Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop Jet Black

2 Answers

I have a Dell inspiron 1525 that I just replaced the keyboard and palm rest. When I replaced the palm rest the cable on the upper left top came loose and therefore my speakers don't work. Where does this cable reconnect? I can't see where. Thanks

Often this is a bad or loose cable:

Step 1: First of all, make sure that you first download the manual for your laptop. Simply google your laptop model and you should be able to find the manual for it on how to replace its parts, etc..It is really handy when getting started. Research on the manaul or dell website the cable information and order from dell or newegg or whatever site or store you choose.

Step 2: You tube a video on how to remove the screws for your lcd properly.

Step 3: Refer to the Dell manual downloaded and refer to how to remove screws at the laptop base and how to remove the:
a) Palm Rest
b) Keyboard.

Step 4: Once you remove the palm rest and keyboard you can get to the motherboard with the Video cable connected.

Step 5: Replace cable and re-assemble everything to the way it was.

How to change the keyboard on dell studio xps 1645

You have to remove the palm rest ( the top part that has the keyboard and touch pad) to access the 13 screws securing the keyboard and shield which are underneath the palm rest. This involves removing the bottom access cover, rear caps, remove ten screws that are marked with a small P on base of computer. Remove two screws that are marked with a K. Remove two flat-head screws in the battery compartment. Then flip the system over. Remove the two screws at the top of the palm rest. Pry the palm rest loose with your fingertips, starting at one edge. Flip open the latch on the keyboard ribbon cable connector, and remove the cable. Lift the latch on the touchpad ribbon cable connector, and remove the cable. Remove the palm rest.

Where is the battery located

The coin battery in the Inspiron 2200 is located under the palm rest just to the left and above the touch pad. If you are going to do this yourself, first remove the AC adapter and battery.
Remove the hard disk, keyboard bezel (plastic above the keyboard), keyboard, EMI shield (silver piece on the left under the keyboard), mini PCI card, LCD and Palm rest. This is not an easy job for someone who has never taken apart a laptop, so be fore-warned.The coin battery is right under the palm rest, immediately below the EMI shield. Good Luck!

this will reset everything. now try turning it on. if it won't come on plug in the power cord and charge the battery for 30 minutes before attempting to power up.

Dell laptop pointer problem

Hi,
This is a very common problem for most Dells this age.
You can try this repair if you feel comfortable.
Remove the keyboard by removing the power button bar (just gently pry up from the right side working left)
re-insert the mouse cable which is coming from the pad/palm rest. Re-assemble.
Check if all the screws on bottom of the unit are tight, especially around the palm rest area.
Good luck
