Find if a site is safe

People use the Internet for online bill payment, banking and shopping every day.
Though most online transactions are safe as long as you use trusted sites you are familiar with, there is always the chance that you risk theft of personal and financial information on the Internet.
Before making an online purchase or offering any personal information from a website that you are not familiar with, ensure that the website displays any security certificates in your website browser.
Check the website's URL address carefully.
Sometimes fraudulent websites will attempt to use a web design or URL that is similar to a trusted website.

Look for the security icon in your web browser.
Internet Explorer and Chrome each display a little yellow lock icon in the address bar next to the website's URL. Firefox displays the little yellow lock icon in the far bottom right-hand corner of the browser page.

View the website's security certificate. See the security certificate by clicking on the lock icon in the browser and selecting "View Certificate" or "Certificate Information."
This gives you more information about the website, who owns the site and who has issued the security certificate.

Follow Windows certificate security warnings.
Windows keeps a list of the most common Internet certificate authorities, and alerts a user when he goes to use a website that is using a certificate that is not part of this list.
This helps warn a user when there might be a potentially insecure website that is attempting to pass itself off as certified.

Look for an Internet trust logo on the website, especially on pages with online forms.
Internet trust organizations verify that a website has a valid privacy statement that protects the information you provide to the site.
However, be careful of sites that display an Internet trust logo without a security certificate since the logos can be duplicated and displayed without real verification.

Look for contact information such as a phone number and street address on the website.
If a website doesn't offer this information online, it may be a sign that the site should not be trusted.

If this is your router and you've forgotten the username or password we suggest that the router be reset and then setup with a new username and password.
Default username and password
Before doing a hard reset on the router you may want to try the default username and password. While this is not the same for all routers, this may allow you access to your router.
Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: <Blank>, try just pressing enter or try "admin" as the password as well.
If this does not work and you believe the router is using the default username and passwords try viewing the default settings at routerpasswords.com
Sometimes when attempting to visit a secure website on your Windows computer, you will receive a message about a security certificate error.
You will have the option of whether to continue to the site.
Secure websites, such as an online bank or retail store, use security certificates so your browser knows that any financial or personal information you enter on the website will go the correct place securely.
Every error message does not necessarily indicate a security problem on the website.

Check your computer's date and time.
If they are incorrect, you will receive security certificate errors.
Click on the time in your taskbar, and set the correct time in the pop-up window.
Refresh the website where you received the error message.
If you receive a security certificate error message again, the problem lies with the website's security certificate.
Click the icon that looks like a padlock next to your browser's address bar.

Read the information in the window.
This will detail who owns the website, the site's verification status and any known information about the website's trustworthiness.
Compare this to what you know about the site you were attempting to visit.

Click "View Certificates, then "Install Certificates."
Click "Yes" at the security warning to install the certificate for the website.

a problem with a websites security certificate is nothing that you can fix. What that is is telling you that the website you are visiting dose not have a valid security certificate which means it may not be a reliable website to visit.

I hope this helped.

Thank you,
Norse

I am not getting open my yahoo email.

hello,

it's a issue on your web browser.

The exact reason is: a secured website ( https ) could not be opened, if a browser's certificate fails.

check your browser's version or update to latest version.

or

just add an exception on your web browser's security page. it's a simple option to take over to that website.

thanks,
