Yes they are easy to replace whether it has an electric release or not. I can change one in 15 - 30 minutes depending on if its being a pain or not. With electric release you will see wire going to the locking mechanism when the trunk is open and you won't it the vehicle does not have that option. You can pull the puch pins loose and remove them which drops the interior piece out of the way. You don't have to remove all of them. Then you will see the locking mechanism. Remove the nut from the barrel of the tumbler. Disconnect the wires if there is any. Do the reverse to complete the repairs. Hope this helps.

The fix is relatively easy, the hard part is accessing the lock mechanism. You have to be able to open the trunk. Once inside, there is a mount that holds the barrel to the body, and if that has loosened, or fallen, then that will give you your problem.

call a locksmith. There is a chamber inside the lock for the gas cap that has a code on it. From that code, they can create a new key for you that will open your trunk.

SOURCE: 1994 pontiac grand prix. The trunk lock is jammed

you can gain access through the rear seat, once inside locate the lock using a pair of pliers you can gain access by turning the bar on the lock one way or the other. If you need to replace the lock remove the U-shaped clip that holds the lock cylinder in place... Otherwise take the lock to someone who can repair it that way you don't have to have several different keys to open and start and run your vehicle etc. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 87 fiero trunk key will turn but wont unlock the

I'm assuming you don't have the electric latch...Since the key is turning, the piece of metal that connects the lock with the latching mechanism probably came off on the other end. You are going to have to destroy the lock. You can do that without hurting the rest of the car though. Drill it out so you can remove the locks internal pieces and stick a long regular screw driver in and turn the latch. The Fiero Store sells new locks.

SOURCE: The trunk lock latch is in the lock position in the trunk and the key will not open the trunk in a 1994 pontiac grand am

Often, the trunk latch does not get lubricated enough(I can tell you from my dealer tech experience that places like Jiffy Lube NEVER service the body latches).Try pulling the release handle while some else "slaps" the trunk lid. This usually works on the hood, trunk, and remote fuel door release.I would see many Grand Ams that were only 2-3 years old with these problems.

How to open steamer trunk lock. Have key, but it does not turn the lock inside. Any suggestions please?

Try squirting some lubricant into the key hole, it could be that it has some rust and is stuck. Put a wire in and see if you can move things after lubrication.

There should be a key slot in the trunk emblem, or the emblem will spin to reveal it. If the key just spins it needs a new door lock cylinder. You can see my previous solutions for how to remove it.

Key just spins around in the lock and won't open....

Sounds like a broken Lock Cylinder, i can't tell you how much of a pain it is to replace these in the trunk. You have to get into the trunk via the back seat typically, crawl inside, remove the panel and work the latch mechanism with a screwdriver. unless you have another way of opening the trunk, then it's a lot easier. after you get it open it's fairly simple of removing the lid panel and removing the lock cylinder assembly, couple screws or bolts usually and it comes out, you can take it to a locksmith and see if they can fix it, or you can buy a new one from your local dealership. but your key probably wont match unless you have a locksmith re-key it for your old key. Models with latches and keys built together and the key cylinder opens the latch, are a little more expensive but don't have connecting rods.

I can not open my trunk without useing the key

There is a lock solenoid in the trunk. You will need to check for power and ground at the solenoid while activating the switch.
