Question about Dell Dimension 8200 PC Desktop

I cannot get the tower to start up. I have checked all the connections and i have unpulged every thing. but when I plug it back up no green light just an orange light which does not shut off at all

Check memory is properly inserted if is check to see if the ram is not defective do a google search on some free programs to check for defective memory.Also try eliminating everything by also taking the video card out mouse etc and all other cards and harddrives then try powering it on to see if it works.
If it does then start putting things in one by one to eliminate them as a possibility.

Check if the memory (RAM) chips are properly inserted into the respective slots. Also check the monitor connections once again.

My monitor no display and light is blinking


Hi,
if the monitor light is blinking this suggests that, there is no display signal coming from the tower. This could be because of the following .

1. Bad video card 2. Bad video software

To check,where the problem is , power of the system tower and remove the power cord from the back of the tower. Press and hold the power buttoon for 10 seconds and the reconnect the power cord and turn the tower on. Check if there is any display or the status of the light changes from amber to green for even a small instance.

If the light changes to green and back to amber the video port on the tower is bad

Alternatively you can connect the monitor to another desktop or laptop to check if the same is working correctly.

I plug in cable that plugs in to the back of the tower and goes to the outlet, but nothing happens. The green light in the back does not come on either


Perform a powerdrain of the computer i.e. unplug the power cable from the back of the tower and press the power button and hold it down for 10 secs.
Please make sure that the power cables are connected properly.
try using a different power cable and check it on a different wall outlet.

most likely the surge fried one of your ram chips... this is where i would start first sometimes the ram will work as a surge protection for your motherboard

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok


Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

I cant boot up my acer aspire 8000 , only shows a " going to sleep " sign after i try to boot it up


Check if the CPU is connected to the monitor. also check if you find the power light is steady green on the tower. And their should be a green light at the back of the tower

Try to check the light on the monitor. If it is amber, then check the video cable both from the back of the monitor and the tower. Try a known-good monitor. Check the diagnostic LEDS of the tower. There are four of them in the front panel. When the computer starts normally, the lights flash. After the computer starts, all four lights display solid green. If the computer malfunctions, the color and sequence of the lights identify the problem. If you have a solid green light on the tower, no beeps heard and no video, check the LEDS. If you get 2-4 light, a possible graphics card failure has occurred. If the computer has an external graphics card, open the tower, remove the card and put it back in. If still persist, try a known-good card. If it still does not resolve the problem, try reseating the memory cards. Remove and put it back in. If still no go. Then it's a motherboard problem.

4100 Light flash no connection


*if the DSL light on your modem is blinking..
TRY: using different filters// check physical connection
IF: not resolved call ISP for a trouble ticket for their line department
*if all the lights constantly blinks
DO: purchase new modem, maybe deffective already or check if modem still under warranty so provider can replace it

NOTE: plug 4100 modem directly to the back of the computer tower without the linksys router and check if light status still the same...
HOW: cable connected from back of modem shud be plug in directly to port at the back of PC tower.. completly remove linksys and turn linksys off..
