Asus P5KC motherboard problem ???

I have a problem with my computer at the moment. I have tried the solutions memory slots...removing battery...removing graghics card and cleaning....I have also bought a new power suply 600w and checked all leads as i put them back. The green power light is coming on the motherboard and the drive fire up,,also all fans start up....but after about 2 secs it all shuts down.
I have tried by passing the power switch at the front cos I thought that might be dodgy....but its still the same. Can anyone suggest anything else I could try??

Does your system give off any kind of beep or beeps before its shuts down? from what it sounds like, you might have a short some where , a bad mobo or bad cpu. Try using another cpu on the mobo and see what it does.

Hi there,

Usually the drivers from other vendor's websites are fine, as the motherboard is actually made up of components from other vendors. I also noticed that there are Vista 64bit drivers for that motherboard on the Asus website. In many cases, these drivers will work fine in Windows 7 as well.

You can find the BIOS updates right here:

Go to download. select "others" in "operating systems". Go to BIOS, expand that. The first one is the last update.

Asus p5kc doesnt run 100% in Windows 7. I installed windows 7 but sound and network adapter doesnt work. I think windows 7 native driver didn't work. Can someone help me?

A lot of drivers will not work with Windows 7, at least for now. I would go to the Asus website and download the XP, Vista and 2000 or 2003 drivers for the sound and network cards you are trying to get to work. Try each one out. You may get one to work with Windows 7, but since Windows 7 is still BETA, I wouldn't hold my breathe.

Asus P4B266 rebooting

Rebooting can be caused by memory problems as well as other mainboard issues. Try removing the memory and make sure the contacts on each memory module are clean. If oxides have built up and the contacts have a brownish look you can gently use a pencil eraser to clean them. Use compressed air to blow out the memory sockets on the system board. Then put the memory back in and restart. If you still experience the rebooting, remove the memory again and try replacing a single module at a time to see if you can isolate a bad one.

If this has been the solution you need, please take a moment to give a good rating. If you still have problems, post a follow-up and I'll try to help further. Thanks for asking here!

Once installed Asus A8N SLi will not boot up in Vista 64 bit

Make sure that you have the lastest Firmware installed in your BIOS.

Also run Windows Vista Upgrade Wizard before installing Vista to check for compatability.
