Paper problem with HP Photosmart 3310 all-in-one

In spite of the fact that I use the right paper quality and put it according to instructions in the paper drawer, the printing takes place only occasionally (once in 3 to 5 trials). HP support recommended to carry out a service test ''Media Sense Calibration'', but it did not help at all.

SOURCE: Paper in 3310 HP

I have had exactly the same problem. Lost heaps of paper and very frustrated.

Last resort solution. Thought that the rollers that pick up paper have become smooth and not gripping paper. So waited until fault occured again (2 Pages later) did not press the ok button when asked to reload paper, and removed the back panel. Using a small artists brush dipped in metholated spirit I brushed the paper feed rollers that come in contact with the paper (not the rear visible rollers). Press the OK button and the paper feed rollers will rotate and try to pick up paper (two times) then will stop and ask for you to load paper and press OK again. Continue to press the OK button when asked, making the printer rotate the rollers while the brush is in contact with them until they have been thouroughly cleaned with the metholated spirit. I also slipper a sheet of 120 grit sandpaper dampened with metholated spirit under the rollers from the back and forced the printer to feed paper by pressing the OK button. Hold the sandpaper firm so that the rollers rotate on the sandpaper. This roughs up the roller surface.

Paper feed problem seem to be fixed.

Hope this works for you.

Cheers

Ron

SOURCE: HP Photosmart 3310 does not recognize paper in tray

This is usually do to a sensor, your correct on that, thers usually a plastic piece that indicates theres paper and its broken or worn.

The other thing is that it may be the little rubber grabber is worn and not grabbing the paper, so the printer thinks thers no paper because nothings going through. These parts can be orderd but are usually costly depending on the printer. If its under warranty, take it back.

Also, check the trey and make sure it isnt a I.D.10.T error and you just set the paper to legal or something. I've made that mistake before.

SOURCE: HP photosmart all in one 2610

Hi,
Perform a semi-full reset on the all-in-one by following the steps below

  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the all-in-one.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, and plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  4. Press and hold the # and 6 buttons on the numeric keypad.
  5. While still holding the buttons, plug the power cord back in to the all-in-one. Continue to hold the buttons for two seconds, and then release them.
The problem should be corrected. If the problem still exists, service your product.

Thanks

SOURCE: my hp photosmart c4280 doesn't print. it won't **** the paper in. does anybody know how to solve this?

Try moving the rod that holds the rollers and see if that is loose.
If it is then you need to call up hp and either get a replacement or an upgrade printer with a 50% dicount on an upgrade and if your in warranty then yuor printer will be replaced free of cost.
If it is not loose then try cleaning the rollers with a cloth dipped in water and then try to put the paper in while holding it and see if it goes in this will help detect whether there is something loose with the pick mechanism or not.
Then disconnect the power cable from the printer press and hold the cancel and colour copy buttons and reconnect the power cable and then try to print and see what happens.
If all this does not resolve the problem then call hp at 1-800-474-6836 and ask either for a replacement if your printer is in one years warranty if its not I suggest you go in for the upgrade with atleast a 50% discount

My HP Photosmart 3310 will not pick-up A4 glossy photo paper in the main tray. 6x4 works fine in the photo tray

Your printer might have opening area for clearing paper jams, also on that area there are some rounded parts that do actual picking-up of paper. Clean those parts with some non-agresive cleaning agent and try again.

I have had the same problem on and off for over a year. Recently it got so bad the printer would not print more than one sheet without going into "Paper Jam" mode with no actual apparent paper jam. I found this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs-Lyw5xXLg ) on YouTube explaining what to do for a similar model to the 3310. The video is very professionally done and was very thorough. I checked all the areas the video suggests and found that my problem was a tiny scrap of paper that was stuck to the right of where the printer carriage parks. 3310 works like a champ once again (still an ink hog though :(

Check out the video & good luck!

Hewlett packerd 3310 won't paper feed. You can feed one paper at a time and use the end of a number a small pish stick to help feed it thru the paper tray!

Most likely either the pickup roller or the feed roller is worn, damaged, or excessively dirty.

You need to purchase a "paper feed cleaning kit" either from your regular HP store or from an HP online retailer. Then go here to get the step-by-step procedure. Instructions vary according to your operating system.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?rule=29302&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=439491

If this does not correct your feed problem, you need an HP certified technician to disassemble the printer and physically examine the parts. They may require replacement.

More than likely, there's paper stuck in there somewhere. It's causing something not to move right, and then the carriage is getting **** on whatever part isn't moving right.

Turn the printer off, and then lay it out on a table. Take whatever panels you can off, or open them. Go through the paper path like a fine-pick-comb and find that piece of paper.

Hope this helpe :>
