Question about Belkin (F5D8231-4) Wireless Router (F5D82314)
When I try to download 1GB files, the download freezes when i use the Belkin N1 Wireless Router. When I am hardwired, it works fine. Help
I had the same problem. My Belkin N1 Router was constantly dropping the WiFi connection (every few minutes). I tried several solutions I found on different forums:
Change the channel selection from Auto to a specific channel -- I tried all 13 channels, but no improvement.
Update the firmware to the latest (Beta) version -- still no improvement.
Finally I enabled "Protected Mode" and the connection seems fine now. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I had this problem with the Belkin N wireless router, but have found a solution.
Depending on how you get your net (DSL, or Cable)... you have to make sure that if your modem is using "PPoE", then your router needs to be aware of that! By default, the belkin routers are not using PPoE. ISPs use PPoE to figure out who is connected to them, and they check for your PPoE username/password every couple of minutes... if the router is not using PPoE, then the ISP disconnects you!! (ie. the dropped connections). (dsl) modems usually have PPoE set and are using the username/password, so there is no problem with them.
To fix this, go to your router setup page (192.168.2.1), and go to LAN setup or something simialr to that. Set your router to use PPoE and give the router your DSL username/password which your ISP gave you. Once you do this, restart the router and it should work. Also, check the MTU if things don't work.. if your modem and router use different MTU limits, then this could be a problem too!

I had this problem and found my wireless home theatre was causing the problem. So any other wireless product such as phones home theatre etc opertating around the 2.4ghz band will cause unstable operation
