I can not find the charging port?

Typically the charging port is the same port used by the USB cable and the cable needs to be a charging/transfer type cable in order to charge as well as transfer data to and from the phone. There are some USB cables that only transfer and do not charge, or charge but do not transfer. Do not get them mixed up if you have both types of cables. It is often easier to get dual use cable instead of single use types.

My HTC 816 de5ire(had to write the model like this, as it's real spelling is apparently considered "profanity" by fixya), is stuck on "slow charge". How do I change this back? It takes all night to charge...

The charge rate is probably determined by the method you are using to charge it. If you are using the AC charger, you will probably get a faster charge than if you you a USB port on a PC. And there are different charge rates on USB ports depending on the PC, some have higher current ratings than others. You may want to experiment to see what works best.

I am overseas and have been using my USB cable to charge my LG phone via my laptop. My laptop has been stolen, so is it possible to to charge my phone if I plug it into my friend's laptop using my USB...

It is not necessary to have the software downloaded as the USB is a universal port.So check to see if another USB port can be used on the laptop. However I would like to advice that such chargers are easily available and very economical( the chinese models could be less than $5 ) which will be the best for you than to always load up the laptop. So this becomes convenient and the battery of the phone will charge with the right current capacity required.

I downloaded latest win 7 drivers, rebooted PC, phone is recognized but not charging.

It denotes that USB charging is not supported by uour mobile phone.
If you are using the same socket in your mobile phone for charging whcih you are using for connecting your mobile to computer then there may be USB charging option available for your phone. If you are having separate charging Jack in your phone. Then USB charging option may not be possible. Please refer your mobile phone user manual to check whether the USB charging option is available or not.

I hope this is useful for you

I am not sure what cables would have come included with your phone, however, if there is one with a USB end on it, then :

1. Plug one end of the cable into your phone (the end that plugs into your phone).
2. Plug the other end (the end with the USB) into an available USB port on your computer.

NOTE: A USB port and cable end, usually has a picture (icon - which looks like 3 lines joining into 1 line (like a branch of a tree)).

For PC computers some USB ports can be found at the front and/or back of the computer. These ports are what USB drives are plugged into and other USB devices (like Hard Disk Drives, Cameras, etc...).

For MAC computers, USB ports can be located on the Keyboard and the back of the computer.

Once the cable is connected. The phone will either charge automatically (like an iPhone does) or your phone will have a message on it, prompting you what to do.

If the above information is too general, supply the following information and I will try to assist you further:

1. Computer Make, Model and Operating System (i.e, Dell, Desktop, Windows Vista)?
2. Phone Make and Model?
3. What type of cables came standard with the phone?

LG Secret charging

Dr Know, doesn't know what he's talking about. I have a LG KF750 and have experienced the same problem.

Solution - Really jam the cable into the socket! The connection is pretty rubbish. The phone charging icon will (with some force and wiggling) appear on screen. Then carefully put it down and don't touch it!

USB charges very slowly, if charging from a dead flat battery it may take a good 20mins of charging to boot up.

P.S. the red camera light is not supposed to come on when charging. Keep wiggling the cable and the light will go off when the phone charging icon appears.

Motorola W370 will not charge

Motorola provides a USB driver for just charging the W370. I installed it using the installation instructions from the Motorola website, but it just wouldn't work. The USB driver would install but would not activate (error Type 10). The W370 said that it could not charge. I recommend not bothering with this device driver, at least not with Windows XP.

However, I did figure out how to get the W370 charging from a USB port by trial and error. It's a pretty simple process.

1. Before plugging in the USB cable, turn on the W370 and wait for it to fully boot.
2. Connect the phone to the USB port of the computer.
3. When the phone asks "Connect phone as storage Device?", press the phone's left soft key, choosing "YES".
4. The phone will say "Please Wait...... Connecting Phone as Storage Device"
5. Eventually, the phone will display a white screen with the message, "In storage mode, no regular phone activities can be done."
6. Flip the phone closed. The yellow battery indicator will be lit. The phone is charging.

You'll note that the computer will see the W370 as a storage device with around 512 Megabytes of free memory, with empty "picture" and "sound" directories. The W370 appears to be a generic mass storage device to the computer. No special device driver is needed to charge the W370!
