Question about Plumbing

1 Answer

I am reaching you from the Mt. chalet lodge where 95% of our pumps are Taco. most of the pumps are series 1600, they have round flanges. There are a few 1600 with the oval diamond shaped flange. On the pump housing the groove for the flange gasketis at least twice as wide as other ones that I have seen(about 3/8th''. My supplier said that there was only one size flange (a type that we have on hand. My question is there available another size, wider gasket? Do I have a mismatched pump and housing so that I should be asking for some other series pump than 1600 that has a housing with another size gasket but fits with a series 1600? Thank You, Bill Keaveny

It sounds more likely that you have a knock off version or some other brand mixed together as I too have only seen one version of the 1600 as long as we have been dealing with Taco.

In case you are not dealing direct with Taco, be sure to talk to:

McCoy Sales Corporation

Littleton, CO 80127
Phone: 303-762-8012

As the listed Taco rep in your area, nearest I can tell.

You must remove the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump.
  1. Remove fuel tank.
  2. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around fuel pump module retaining flange.

Not pumping

Check to see if the motor is working first and u have power to it. If it's running u might need an impellar or u have air in system. Make sure all valves are open in line.

Pumps can have noises from bearings, bushings, cavitation and excess wear on the impellor and the wear rings. It is time to take it out of service and inspect it.

Taco timers and Surge Protectors

Do they run at the same time? The two items consume
a lot of power. Check the voltage when they are turned on. If the voltage is below 90 Volts. The power surge at your Taco is great. Then, the surge protector could not
handle the current inrush that's why it's blown off. You
must install a surge protector that can handle the Taco
current inrush.
