I used the recovery CD from my laptop Toshiba Satellite A215 - S5808 to recover the entire laptop. It was recovered. Now when I open Microsoft Office Word Home and Student 2007, it shows that I have to type a product key, for It to work properly. But when I type the product key that was written on a sticker underneath my laptop, it says that it is incorrect. I think that I need a new product key? What do I do?????
"To obtain a new product key for your Office program in the United States, call 1-800-936-5700 and speak to a Microsoft customer service representative. Outside of the United States, call the number that appears in the activation wizard.
When you call Microsoft for a new Office product key, have the following items available for the customer service representative:
The product CD-ROM
The computer on which you want to install Office
The readable parts of your original product key (if available)

start the computer and at the same time keep the delete button depressed until the bios screen comes up
in one of the tabs you will find format the hard drive
do that then go to oot tab and change boot sequence from hard drive to cd as first preference
open the cd and insert the disc
close down the computer then restart and it will boot from the cd
You need to get disk for Vista from anyone and then use your windows product key mentioned on the sticker on back of your Toshiba Laptop to install Vista again on your computer. But as you had already formatted it so all data is lost now.
You may have a hidden partition on the harddrive - if so you can recovery from there - BUT - you should also be able to create some bootable recovery DVD or CDs from the hidden partition using the toshiba recover cd creator
Two ways to get to the hidden partition on Toshiba
Press an hold the zero key and power on - this will enable the recovery menu
OR on later models
Tap F8 as it boots and then use repair computer - from menu
How to recover a Toshiba notebook with the HDD recovery procedure http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9A02QI0000R01.htm
Toshiba laptops from mid 2007 onwards dont have a recovery disc supplied with a purchase of a laptop. Instead, Toshiba has added a hidden partion on the hard drive which contains the same files on a recovery cd / dvd.
To reinstall your laptop to the factory settings / "out of the box" settings, please follow these steps. It worked for me, and should work for you.
ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED ON YOUR HARD DRIVE IF YOU PROCEED. YOU WILL NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THE POWER ADAPTER PLUGGED IN. DO NOT SWITCH OFF OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER DURING THIS PROCESS.
1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.
Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.
2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.
3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.
4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.
5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
6) Select Recover to out-of-box state. Click Next again.
The below fix may or may not work but needs to be followed closely.
1. Boot the Recovery disc or HDD image and select System Recovery Options. 2. Follow the prompts until you get to the menu and then select a command prompt. 3. Copy the \zzimages\zzimages directory for all recovery discs to a temp directory on the hard drive (c:\temp). 4. Change to the Bin directory on the first recovery disc and run "tosimagex /apply c:\temp\preinst.swm 1 c:\ /ref c:\temp\preinst*.swm" without the quotes.
That is it. It will take a long time to copy the files since they are large and a long time to run the image program, half an hour on my computer. Also, based on Imagex syntax, it looks like the "1" in the command above might be replaced with another number for models that come with more then one Windows version on the same recovery media.
What your friends have told you is correct for newer Toshiba models, they do have a "recovery partition"
Here is how you recover the OS >>>>>>
1, Make sure the laptop is turned off. 2, Hold down the zero (0) key and turn the laptop on, keep it pressed in until you see the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" screen. 3, Choose the "Recovery of Factory Default Software" and click next. 4, The "Recovery of Factory Default Software" will appear. 5, Choose the "Recover to out-of-box-state" you will then get a message that all your data will be lost. Click next and the recovery process will start.
Once complete you will see a message that the HDD has been recovered.
Before you start the recovery process its a good idea to back up any data you have unless you not bothered or have already done so.
Yes my friend. Toshiba recovery cd cant be downloaded online. U need to purchase one from toshiba. Or if you want, you can purchase a retail version of windows then download the toshiba drivers from support.toshiba.com
