SOURCE: How do I replace a broken spool pin on the Brother
If the spool pops in, you may be able to find a replacement where sewing machine parts are sold.
If it was a molded to a platform, a thread stand may be a less expensive method to use. You can find a single cone thread stand with sewing notions.

They are available online for about $4-$5. I saw a metal one for $4. Or go to www.brother-usa.com and order from them.
SOURCE: how do i take the case off my brother xr-65 to replace my spool pin and spool cap
I don't have that particular Brother but I have on that is similar.
Start by taking all of the screws out of the back that you can find (they're in deep holes, so look carefully). Then look at the bobbin area and you'll probably find one more. Finally, take the feet off of the bottom of the machine (not the presser foot, the feet that sit on the table), you'll likely find that there is a screw through the middle of the foot that also holds the case in place.
Best of luck

It looks like it might just snap into place. Of course that means you have to remove the broken bits which may require a drill, small bit and needle nose pliers.
