Question about Sharp 32SC26B 32" TV

1 Answer

Slanting Picture The picture seems to slant from the left to the right. This is most noticeable when watching a letter boxed video or a sporting event that has an information bar on the screen. Are there any adjustment that can be made to straighten the picture?

Re: Slanting Picture

The yoke has probably come loose and tilted.. From the rear of the set looking on the back of the crt you'll find a copper wire wound magnet called the yoke. It terminates on the neck of the yoke with a clamp. With the set off slightly loosen the clamp and turn the yoke assembly in the opposite direction - key word here is slightly - and apply power to check the alignment.
Keep doing this until you achieve the alignment you want. And always remember to unplug the set between attempts.

Lines vertical

These lines are called vertical retrace lines, and caused by the video output section; or improperly set screen voltage. All of these type of lines will be a little slanting type, across the screen all over, with an approximate one inch apart to each other. If you wish to get more details, check this link. Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

It is very common to have the convergance circuit on these sets go out and cause display distortions. Are the colors separated or is just the picture slanted?

Orion standard tv

Have you had any kind of magnets close to the tv set? I had a brand new sanyo do the same thing. I had pulled the speaker box out of my truck and stood it up next to the tv (not thinking about where I put it). Turned it on a few hours later only to see a messed up picture. I moved the speaker box to get behind the tv and the picture got better. Moved the speaker box back to the truck and after a couple of days the picture was back to normal. These were 4 large magnets on these speakers. Maybe I helped some!

Slanted picture!!

This problem might be caused by an external magnetic field. Most modern Sony tv sets have a picture rotation control. Go to the setup menu and select Picture Rotation. Your user guide will explain.

Picture slants right to left

Hope you have fixed this problem by now, if that tv is unserviced, I mean if nobody has ever opened it, it could be a problem with the positioning of your tv, just tilt the tv in different positions and find out the position in which it will show the right fit. If it is serviced, especially yoke is changed, this is rare, it could be because the position of yoke is not aligned properly.

Slanted picture

Your deflection yoke (a coil around the neck of the picture tube) must have gotten turned. Your can turn the picture upside down by rotating this coil. If your set is in warranty, you should return it. When this "yoke" is adjusted the color is affected too. If you try this yourself you'd void the warranty and mess up your color. Stargazer
