It sounds like it may be a bad freeze sensor. Consider having it services.
HOWEVER
The first thing I would recommend is removing the necessary grills and clean the condenser area and be sure the fan is operating. This becomes a problem in clean homes because the dirt slides on the floor and into the condenser coil where as the dirt sticks to a dirty floor.

The most common reason for this is that the fill valve for the ice maker is sticking slightly.
The brown ice comes from the leaking water sitting there on either the kickout bar or the gears and you are getting some residual rust deposit.
You will need to take the fill valve apart and clean it or possible replace it, I also recommend installing a water filter for the ice maker if you don\'t have one or replace the old one.
Calcium deposits in water are real hard on these small valves.

If it does not have the ice feature in the door, it does not have an ice maker, stick to trays, its cheaper anyway.

the tray is there to capture the condensation. it will have water in it but evaporates so it doesn't overflow. if you're having temp. problems' it may be low on freon.

Simply buy a replacement tray. The flexability of the old tray is gone and so no flex means cubes stay put. Aggrevating. A new flex tray is around 20 bucks and very easy to replace. 59688-1 is the part number.
