With the phone UN-PLUGED and powered OFF. Hold the home button and plug into a computer using I-tunes. Continue to hold till the restore screen starts on the computer. You will restore the device to factory and loose everything but it will be useable.
You probably got yourself a new iPod! What the screen is trying to tell you is that you should sync your iPod to iTunes. To do that: Step 1: Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and click download to download iTunes. Step 2: Once it is downloaded, find where you have saved the file, and double-click it. Step 3: Continue by pressing next through each screen until you reach the end screen (the one where there is a finish button). Step 4: Connect your iPod to the computer with the USB cable that came with your iPod.Follow the on screen instructions. You should now be able to use your iPod! Connect your ipod to your computer, when it says "sharing", do this:
press and hold "menu" button and the center of the circle till it turns
off the screen (reseting iPod). Then wait for it to light back on. Hopefully that should work..
If that doesn't fix it trythe USB cable Screen Doesn’t come on anymore http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18859 If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
