40:1 ratio is the manufature spec for 2 stroke units. unless it is a four stroke then there is no mixture just a good quality gas.

Remove plug and ground and see if you have spark at electrode.Sometimes it will not fire under compression.Check that kill switch is not shorted, just remove the wire going to ground and try again.If that is not the case then check for bad coil.

Gas / oil should be in ratio 50 / 1 and use two stroke oil for strimmers or chainsaws.

Firstly check the high-tension lead to the spark plug isn't loose. Remove the spark plug and place the body of the plug against the engine so that it is grounded. Check there is a spark when the engine is cranked. If no spark, there may be a short circuit or crack in the white insulation part of the plug so temporarily try another plug to see if you get a spark. Don't actually use this in the engine unless it's the same time type as it may result in engine damage if it's too long. If this still doesn't work, there may be a problem with the cut off switch, which cuts the engine when the safety handle is released, if this is the case it may be necessary to strip the cowl off the top of the engine to trace the wire and switch.
The fuel lines may have become airlocked.This can happen if the tank is run dry. If the weedeater has a primer bulb, alternatively press it several times and then try to pull start the engine with choke on. Repeat this several times. The primer bulb should feel spongy and fill with fuel.
If you're up to it, you can dismantle the carburettor and clean any dirt from valves.The carburettors on chainsaws, hedge cutters, strimmers etc are very fiddly with delicate diaphragms, valves and springs so you have to be careful to avoid damage or loosing parts.
Ensure air filter is clean. Foam elements can be washed with hot water and detergent and squeezed dry in a cloth. Paper elements can be cleaned with compressed air blown from the inside of the filter but ideally should be replaced.
Check fuel lines aren't kinked or blocked restricting fuel flow.
Ensure fuel filter isn't dirty. This is probably located at the end of the fuel line in the tank.
Check the throttle cable is actuating the throttle plate in the carburettor.
Check whether there is a vent on the tank or on fuel cap. There is usually a valve on this to allow air into tank to replace fuel as it leaves for the carburettor. Ensure this isn't blocked.

I always mix it 40:1 so that the piston will always be lubricated and after I finish cutting I empty the gas tank and then restart machine so as to keep the fuel filter clean.

overheating on a 2 stroke is usually caused by lack of oil mixture. try draining all the fuel and re mixing the ratioo to a 40 to 1 ratio. if no smoke then richen the mixture till it slightly smokes. i.e. 50:1 ratio

Hello I'm fixing my poulan pro ppb200 gas

My service center told me that they are allowed only 2 of these adjuster per year. It has to do with the air quality issue. They don't want back-yard fixer-uppers to pollute the place up. True store - I could not believe it.

The BLUE wire-splice connector, the one that you crimp after you put a wire in each end, is supposed to fit snug around those screws and allow you to adjust them. However I could not get it to work.

If you take a hack saw and cut the lip from around the adjuster screws and then cut a slot in the adjuster screws themselves, you will be able to set those screws with a flat-head screwdriver.

The whole operation takes about 9 pushes of the hacksaw. The lip is aluminum and the set screws are a very soft steel.

Carburater fuel mixture settings on weedeater gth22 hedge trimmer

your best bet is to buy one small bottle of poulan oil, which will be added to one gallon of gas.
