Question about Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500 GB SATA Hard Drive

7200.10 500GB Video Included. Humming, Wobbling, Beeping Sounds

Not detected by anything, hooked it up via usb directly, and still didn't work. The drive spins up and everything. Has not yet been opened, but I do plan on trying to repair the drive myself sometime.

500GB 7200.10 Barracuda

Stopped working when I accidentally tripped over the drive.
I'm hoping someone could diagnose the drive simply from the sound. Is it the heads? The platters? Thanks, let me know if anything else is needed...

Hello, the beeping is actually a fault code, ie short beep, long beep etc, a bit like morse code. You can get a list of what these codes mean if you google 'bios beep codes' . It means your bios has detected a basic error with the hardware and is trying to tell you what's wrong! It could be anything from memory gone bad to faulty graphics card or keyboad error, you'll have to look at the list and try to equate the codes to what you're hearing from your system. I am using an old sony dcr-dvd201 or a dcr-dvd300 camcorder and i am trying to hook it up to my computer via usb and it will not recognize either of them. I am running windows vista ultimate. Is there...

Hi - You have to install the USB driver for Windows BEFORE you attach the camera. If you attach the camera before you install the driver the driver will be broken and not work. If you did attach the camera before the driver installation you will have to remove the driver and then reinstall it then attach the camera via USB. It doesn't make a lot of sense but Sony is very emphatic about these directions.

Hopefully you have the drivers because they don't seem to be available from the Sony support website anymore.

Good luck and thanks for using Fix Ya.

Connect it to your PC via USB, if your camera prompt you of some choices, choose Back Up using camera's navigation keys, wait for a while until your camera is detected. Doing this for the first time your PC will ask you to insert CD(included when you purchase this product) and it will guide you through until its done. Once detected, your camera behaves like as an external hard disk drive. You may use the editing software included in your CD to view, edit or burn your videos to CD or DVD. Good Luck

I can't upload video from my Canon GL1

first off make sure you are positively connected to computer via usb. then make sure your drivers are updated. then see if it connects. also note that your camera screen may say "would you like to connect to usb port?" make sure if that does appear that you hit yes. best of luck!

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Video Included. Humming, Wobbling

Brother,it is a firmware problem for seagate drives, the 7200.10 has a typical problem of firmware, once it currupt, then it cannot be detcted by the BIOS or PC ,or showing 0GB or less capacity when connected,so you can use some useful tools such as HD Doctor for Seagate to repair it,this problem is very common but less tool can deal with it till now.

I'm trying to connect my canon hv 20 to my macbook pro, and the computer won't detect the camera.

Connect via USB to see contents of the miniSD card. Connect via Firewire to do anything with recorded video/audio. USB setting may require further fooling around with camera settings to be visible on some computers, since the miniSD card should mount, just like a flash drive. I have one of these camcorders and this all works just fine.

bricked hard drive? Would folling this lead to a full hard drive format or just unbricking a drive like people sat it does?? Also any other ways that might help would be great to know, heres what i'm talking about! "Fixing The Drive NOTE: Commands for you to type are in red boldface. Pay attention to upper & lower case - it is important. Turn on power to the RS232-to-TTL adapter and the hard drive. After a few seconds, Press CTRL+z. You should then see a prompt like this: F3 T> If not, swap TX & RX wires. Access Level 2 (type /2): F3 T>/2 (enter) F3 2> Then spin down the (disconnected) motor: F3 2>Z (enter) Spin Down Complete Elapsed Time 0.147 msecs F3 2> Very carefully, remove the cardstock that you placed between the PCB and the drive head contacts. Carefully replace and tighten the 3 loose screws. I suggest using a small piece of masking tape to help you hold the screws while you put them back in place.
