Question about Maxtor OneTouch II 300 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Restoring deleated files.

I accidentally deleated some files from the Maxtor One Touch II, while cleaning up my computer hard drive. As I tried to restore the files, it kept on telling me that the location address is to long. Meaning the name of the particular folders and subfolders. You think that if I change the name of the folders and subfolders, it will be able to restore my files?

Re: Restoring deleated files.

Maxtor has been acquired by seagate. maxtor did send out recovery software to the general public on request, but i am not sure if that is still the case, You can contact them at....

If the drive is not physically failing, try drive genius.

Keep me posted.

I have a disk that worked for me and I am running windows xp. I also have the website address that is supposed to have the 98 drivers which could work perhaps.

Guess you could try them first and if that doesnt work I could perhaps make a backup of the disk/package/mail/ worth anything?

Hi, I lost user manual, need to restore files back to computer.

Provided that you can find your external drive using My Computer feature, double click on that drive icon and search the drive for the files you wish to put on the computer drive (C drive). If you right click the file or folder on the Maxtor external drive and then choose copy, you can go to the folder on the C drive that you want to paste them into, select it and then right click the folder icon and choose paste to put them into the folder. To make the process quicker, you might choose to paste all files and/or files from the Maxtor drive onto the computer desktop and then move them around later.

If you have Windows 2000 or newer, Windows will auto install generic drivers for the drive and show a drive letter in my computer. Chances are the drive has issues. Try pluggin into a differnet computer and see if the same results occur.
