1966 chevy turn signal does not work

What could cause the left turn signal on a 1966 Bel Air to not work? The right signal works just fine. I just purchased this car 2 days ago so anything is possible. Also, the left break light is more dim then the right side, and is the same side that the turn signal does not work. Any ideas?

Check the light socket and the wires leading to the socket. The contacts inside are probably nasty looking green or have a white powdery looking corrosion on them, also check to make sure the bulb fits in the socket properly,it could just be worn out.The switch in the column could also have a bad or broken contact, but start with the simple stuff first.

Left turn signal only works sometime

It's likely that moisture intrusion over time has corroded the socket and/or the base of the bulb causing an intermittent open circuit.

Clean the socket with a small tubular shaped wire brush* and compressed air. Install a new bulb.

*The wire brush used to clean the inside of a 1/2" copper tube fittings prior to soldering. Hardware & Home Improvement stores have them.

There should be two flasher controls in your fuse box, one for the hazards and one for the blinkers. If replacing the flasher does not work, a bad ground at the signals can cause this problem.

Left turn signal quit working. 1969 chevy pickup-

sounds like you have a bad flasher which is usually located near the steering column under the dash. check for ground on front left bulb. may have to replace light socket if ground is good.please leave comment.

A "straight 6" is NOT a "V6"...whatcha really got?
There couldn't be a more simple car in the world to work on...If you have experience with carbs got ahead and check her out...unfortunately, if you DON'T...just take it to an OLD mechanic, not some kid, and have em look at it...Couldn't be more than $25 and WATCH HIM as he''s doing it.
My hunch is it's the choke assmbly.
Good Luck...you have the BEST engine in the world!!
