SOURCE: LTX 1000 CRAFTSMAN /42 IN. DECK BELT LODGED ABOVE

Without the model number, I couldn't tell you what belt goes on the ground drive. That 174883 is a 5/8 x 97" and is your deck drive belt. Your ground drive belt may just need replacing. They will wear thin and loosen up between the pulleys and cause the problems you're having. The old belt may still have the numbers on it.

SOURCE: need a diagram for a sears craftsman 42 inch deck drive belt and

I don't have a deck diagram but you should be able to figure it out it you put the back part of the belt (flat) up against the pulleys that are wide and the narrow part (v) into the smaller pulleys. It might take a couple of times but it is not that hard to figure out. Also put the (flat) side of the belt on any tension idlers. Hope this works.

Look under the "running boards" Sears(AYP) sometimes put them under there. If not, go to www3.sears.com, type in your 917.xxxxxx model number and the pictures will show you an exploded view of the belt configurations

Thought I posted a solution earlier on this, but it was my first post and I don't see it here so I'll try again.
Google search on your model shows the drive belt diagram on page 27 of the manual.

Looks like mine.
basically need to remove front pulley by loosening center bottom bolt while holding the center nut on top of motor.
Slip belt over the rear pulley first and then straight toward the front, slip belt on front pulley and then slide pulley back onto shaft.
Then wind through the rest of the pulleys etc..as seen in the diagram.

How do you check and add transmission fluid to a 2007 craftsman dgs 6500 garden tractor? also, what type fluid do I add?

You do not change the drive oil on these tractors. It is supposed to be good for the life of the mower according to sears craftsman.

Check proper belt routing. These models are a little tricky. Also check tensioner spring.

Craftsman DGS 6500 garden tractor won't engage

Hi
There is a pin in the back by the hitch - make sure it is pushed in. If it is pushed in then check to see if there are any oil leaks under it.
