Perform a system restore

Start-> Programs-> Accesories->Systtem tools->System restore

Restore it to a day when the USB was working fine.

Hey there, lets see if we can get this fixed for ya. ok first, have you made any hardware or software changes to your laptop if so what were they. If not then right click on my computer=> properties=> hardware=> device manager. Click on the plus sign next to universal serial bus controllers. First see if you have any question marks. If not, right click on the usb controller and click uninstall. Restart the computer, it will reinstall the usb controller. See if that works for ya if not let me know.

USB Port not working

If you are running Windows XP or Vista, here is a "magic fix" that seems to work. (I have NO idea why it works, but it has on many occasions restored the USB ports on three different computers.
Turn off the laptop. Remove the power cord AND the battery. Press the start button and hold for 5 seconds. Replace the battery back into the laptop, and reconnect the power cord if desired, and turn it back on. See if the USB ports work now. Post or comment back with the results.

I have a toshiba satellite a135 s2276. The usb ports are all enabled but it won't recognize any device plugged in Also when i boot up the screen is kinda pinkish in color then goes black. Everything works...

The problem is with your harware. Either there is some problem with your USB ports( Mother Board) or its due to conflicting drives. Reinstall all your USB port drivers.

Resetting your USB Controllers I'm going to assume that you're running XP (home or pro). Recently I had to refresh my USB ports. This is the sequence I used.
1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties
2. Click Hardware
3. Click Device Manager
4. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller
5. Right-click each USB device listed and select Uninstall
6. Click OK to confirm removal of each device

Note: Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all devices under UBS Controller are removed

7. Shut down computer.
CAUTION: Ensure that the Shut Down option is selected instead of Restart.
8. Wait a few seconds and turn computer on. When it reboots you will see "Windows has detected new or added hardware"

Note: You will have to insert your Windows CD, if prompted.

These steps will refresh the USB ports.

Added Notes: 1) If your mouse is a USB you will have to use the keyboard to shut down your computer. 2) It would be wise to unplug everything from your USB ports EXCEPT your mouse and/or keyboard before you restart the computer to avoid Windows replicating any printers, scanners, digi-cams, etc. Once Windows has refreshed your USB controllers and ports, shut down again. reconnect, and restart.

Good Luck

USB ports

check in the device manager to see if they have a yellow exclamation mark against the universal serial bus controler ,if they do,check that the ports are physically intact ,then try running the motherboard driver disc to install all the drivers again.
then go to start\run type "cmd"
then type sfc/scannow,
have the o/s disc ready, as this will replace any system files that have got corrupted.

hope this will help you
good luck

Cannot find where UBS connection is on laptop Toshiba Satellite

sorry its not a great pic but the(ubs) USB ports are nearly always on the left or right side of any toshiba note book. im guessing you inherited the laptop or were forced to try and keep up with the new world and made the mind numbing leap into the unknown where every gadget you own is already in a portable time machine leaving you with now useles cd's that you refuse to get rid of because it took you years to compile your collection, and if you do get rid of it your then left with the problem of finding something else to put on the shelf in their place! lol life sucks.lol
