I have c7 code

it is a communication problem between remote control and tankless unit

Temporary fix:
1 Turn off electricity to tankless and remove cover. Find two terminals that remote control connects to.
2 Disconnect remote control wiring. Turn electricity back ON.
3 Open hot water tap and see if unit works as expected.
4 Without remote, tankless will heat water to default 120 degrees F and will run without the remote.
Contact Rheem they may send you another pcb board.

Can the unit operate without the remote control

Yes, by pressing the power button on the unit. It is factory set to cool to 68 degrees and maintain that temperature. To access any other settings you must use the remote control. The part # for the remote is CRMC-A750JBEZ

The buttons on my air conditioner quit working. It will still turn on and off. It is now set to fan. Will a universal remote work with it? I don't want to spend $75 on a remote(replacement remote) that...

I'm not sure there is a universal remote available for AC units. There may be, I just have not seen one. However, you can still operate the unit without the remote, if you do the following. I'm assuming you have changed the batteries in the remote and they were installed properly (i.e. Facing the right direction) and it still doesn't work or you lost the remote.

Turn the unit OFF and unplug it for 15 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, plug the unit back in and turn the ON/OFF switch to ON. The unit should have reverted back to the original factory setup settings. Which should now allow you to operate the unit without the remote, because the controls on the unit should now be activated.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Unit will not turn on without the remote.

To operate the unit without having the remote .. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it for 15 minutes. After the time has elapsed, plug the unit in and turn the ON/OFF Switch to ON. You should now be able to operate the controls on the unit itself. As it should have reverted back to the original factory setup settings.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My unit requires remote control to operate remote control is lost what 2 do

Whether you have a thru the window model or a potable AC, the same controls that are on the remote are on the face of the unit. To operate it without the remote, turn the unit OFF and unplug it. Wait 5 minutes, then plug it back in. Wait 3 minutes & turn the unit ON using the controls on the front of the unit.. The controls will have reverted back to the original factory settings and you can now use the front control panel to operate & set the controls as you like.

If you want to purchase a new hand held remote, contact Haier Product Support 1-877-337-3639.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Amplifier goes from low volume to high volume without touching any controls. I turn it down only to have it mysteriously go up again 5 minutes later. Warranty ran out one week ago...

Let's eliminate ghosts and goblins. I can't identify your unit. Give me a make and model number.

As a test, locate the remote control window on the front of the unit, if it has one. Set it up to watch or listen to something then cover the remote window on the unit with a small piecr of cardboard. If you can't locate its infrared receiver for the remote just cover the entire front of the unit with something sufficiently opaque to block your remote. Try to operate it with th remote to be sure the unit can't see it.

If the expected problem never comes back you have a stray signal from something else in the environment getting interpreted as a 'volume up' command. Then look around for other remotes being used, wireless devices, use your imagination. I used to have a remote-controlled space heater and my TV would sometimes shut off if I used the remote. Does the unit have line-of-sight to a nearby house? Maybe something next door (garage opener?) is interfering.

If it still happens and there are no other infra-red devices nearby you have a ghost.

Missing remote

I do not know how to solve it without using remote control, but you can order a replacement remote control for your unit from Panasonic part website. A new Remote Control will cost you $24.72 plus tax and shipping. Just type the model number, SC-HT1500, scroll down to find "Find Parts & Accessories" on the right, click on it. The pop-up windows appears. Choose SAHT1500, for main unit, and you will go to the page where you can order many parts for your unit. II think it is worth to invest to a new remote control since many features do not work without it.
