Installed new monitor and now have no sound

I was given a LCD monitor for my birthday, and installed it yesterday. However, I have no sound coming from my computer now. What have I failed to do?
I was able to register my product at the web-site, and don't know if it's a defective monitor or if I've failed to complete a step that would give me sound.

Re: installed new monitor and now have no sound

If your monitor has built in speakers, there will be a input plug coming from the back of the screen to which you connect to the green speaker input on your pc

I have the E-MU system installed on a windows 7 machine. the EMU applications picks up signal from the mike but none of the sound programs installed on the machine do. Any ideas?

1. Check for update for you sound card at the manufacturers site this may be the issue.
Some sound cards will not be fully recognized by Windows 7 because the manufacturer has not given or developed a full driver set for the new Windows environment.

The connection to your tv is video only. You should hear sound coming from computer speakers. Unplug them and hook your stereo to that plug in.

No sound on monitor speakers

You have installed a new sound card however you won't be able to use the monitor speakers unless there is a seperate cable that you can plug into the headphone jack. Or you can get some speakers and plug them into the headphone jack.
