Best to try using a shorter usb cable, long cables tends to introduce signal loss which could cause your HDD not receiving sufficient signal from your PC. Also, if you are using a USB hub (usb extenders or a device that adds USB ports) make usre that you are not connecting the HDD there. If the HDD has a separate poer source, please check that it is plug-in properly and getting power from your mains.

I have a Toshiba Desktop Ext Hard Drive HDWC120XK3J1 for many years and worked fine, but now non of my computer recognize it anymore. I hear that is working but doesn.t show up in the My Computer or Disk...

Areas to check
1. Is the light blinking or stationary.( it has to be blinking for it to connect to your pc)

2. Just see if you can get a different cable and plug the hard disk to your PC.

3. Try adjusting the side of the wire close to the hard disk port area slowly. This can happen because the port area has probably worn out over the years and has got some loss in contact.

4. If none of the other steps worked then you hard disk has "probably" become faulty with bad sectors accumulated over the years. ( this happens to all hard disk ). But don't worry you can still recover if you give ur HD to technicians at a cost and it's time to get a new hard disk.

Wii Remote not being recognized

try this!
  • Wii Remote not being recognized by the Wii Console (lights on the Wii Remote flash when you press a button, but then go out) - Most Common:
    Getting the Wii console to recognize (or "sync" with) a Wii Remote, especially one that did not come in the box with your Wii console, may require doing a few additional steps before it can be synced. Additionally, a Wii Remote that was working, but is no longer being recognized (or has "lost its sync") may need to be re-synced. Please use the troubleshooting steps listed below, which our experience has shown can solve many Wii Remote issues.
      Try these steps!
    1. Turn the Wii console power OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds have elapsed, plug the cord back into the wall outlet.

    2. Turn the power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safety screen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find a red button labeled "SYNC" Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds. This will clear all the syncs on the Wii, allowing you to get a clean start to begin the process described below.

    3. After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:
      1. With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries.

      2. Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink.

      3. Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console.

      4. When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).

      5. This sync procedure (steps "a" through "d" above) must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to the system.

    If you are still unable to get the Wii console to recognize your Wii Remote(s) after carefully following the steps above, please call 1-800-255-3700 for further assistance.

    I bought cy25 off ebay, installed HD, but does not reconize it. when install OS, i get blue screen. How do resolve this?

    Let me ask you this: Did OS-you didn't say which one- recognize Your HD when you try to install it?If HD is installed properly - then problem is that OS has no drivers for it. Meaning- try another OS.More data would be helpful.

    Computer is not recognizing my external hard drive

    If the light won't blink, there could be problem with the power source. Do scanning hardisk for errors manually ( take off the hardisk from the case, assemble it on other PC Desktop)

    Simpletech hard drive not working

    I have that problem similiar to yours. My simple tech stopped working for like two years so i decided to open up my simple tech and removed my HD away from the old enclosure so I can try building my own external hard drive for the first time. I bought another new 3.5 enclosure, IDE/ATA for the old HD. I put it in the new enclosure and it worked!

    It's the only solution you can have. No need to retrieve data or re-format your HD. You can leave it the way you like...if you wanna reformat it...up to you.

    Problems with Hard Drive

    Hi,

    Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

    T your concern:
    • initially, pls verify that it is indeed an external storage problem rather than a laptop USB issue by trying other USB devices and determine if they are recognized and working;
    • disassemble the enclosure of the Acomdata external hard drive and remove the actual hard drive;
    • you would need the use of a 2nd PC, a desktop that could accommodate the HD from the Acomdata (IDE or SATA);
    • install the HD from the Acomdata as a Secondary Master or Slave internally to the 2nd PC;
    • boot the 2nd PC and determine if the HD from the Acomdata will be recognized as a local drive;
    • chances are that the partition of the HD from the Acomdata was messed up. This would explain the blinking blue light;
    • download and install a file recovery program. An example is GetDataBack (unfortunately not a freeware but DEMO is available) and do a recovery. It would take some time based on the size of the HD from the Acomdata;
    • temporarily save the recovered data in the 2nd PC. You can burn this likewise into a DVD backup should the 2nd PC be capable of that;
    • after recovery, re-partition and format the HD from the Acomdata while still attached to the 2nd PC;
    • should the re-partition and format be successful, you can transfer back the temporarily saved recovered files;
    • a nice, simple, fast and safe partitioning/formatting software is Partition Magic (unfortunately not a freeware but FREE TRIAL is available).
    • should the re-partition and format be not successful, you can replace only the HD and/or claim warranty.
    Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Try checking your power cord adapter.
    I found the same problem was with the cord.
    Luckily, I had another Acomdata HD cord to check the problem.
