Cant install Flight Sim 2004 (FS9)on new XFX Nvidia geforce GTX285 card without the install creating a huge ~e5d141.tmp and crashing game when I attempt to change game settings. Also noticed that new card is not fully recognized, program starts up with bare minimums 800x600. Installed old FS2002 with full capabilities and Frame rates as well as the new FSX, with no problem ,so does Far Cry. Install of FS9 on a second computer with a NVIDIA 7600GSO card (AGP) works well, but wife won't let me use hers. It appears that a path or application from FS9 install is not recognized by the video card and is possibly being duplicated in the .Tmp file. Everything is updated and file cleaned and registry run. Card is set to default application. Need advice........

I have the latest Drivers from XFX installed. This problem occured a few days after receiving my new PC. and loading my game programs back on it. As I stated The GTX285 Card should be accepting the FS9 game just as simply it did for Far Cry, FS2002, Combat Flight Simulator and the new FSX, which is extremely graphic and a resource hog. Application of the FS9.1 patch is not relevant to the startup problem, but I did try it back about 7 reinstalls ago with no success.

if I could read the ~5d141.tmp file I might be able to determine what it contains and why it's being created everytrime FS9 starts up. The file consumes 2,077,320 kb of memory per the Task manager,

which slows the game down to unusable. When I delete the process FS9 crashes to desk top. So the file is required and associated.......

Also, after initial install the settings screen should reflect the cards capabilities. with this new PC and Card everything should be maxed as it is with the other games. FS9 display/ hardware setting however shows bare minimums 800x600x16 resolution, default to minimums. That's what makes me think it's the Card not recognizing the FS9 input or the other way around.

First we should try to fix the issue of the GTX285 being recognised with the lowest settings. Are you sure you have the latest drivers for it installed? I'm sure you have, but these are the specific ones you need.

After installing them and restarting, I would reinstall FS9. If FS2002 and FSX are working, but FS9 still doesn't work, try FS9's latest patches here.

If that doesn't work, let me know of any error messages.

Cant boot up compy with new graphics card to reinstall drivers

if you have an older graphic card swap it out with the new or if u have onboard video use it as your video. Once you boot up uninstall the nvidia drivers and turn off pc. Now reinstall the new card and install the drivers from the CD or the new ones from the nvidia site. Dont use the windows device manager.

Playing Medieval 2 total war and game crashes

In my experience, game crashes usually occur due to graphic card drivers needing to be updated, they are either old or corrupt. Go to nvidia.com and download the latest drivers. Another thing to check is your device manager for any devices listed that are having trouble or not installed. I can help you more with this part if you tell me what operating system you are using.

Check page 2-19 section 2.5.6 of your manual. Also

If this is all correct than swap known good card to second-PEG unsued slot. You could have a bad video card or SLI cable.

XFX Geforce 6200 256 DDR RAM

i have found that some boards don't like Nvidia graphics cards and play up when it comes to a particular graphical attempt. You can try the game and card on lower settings, but that defeats the purpose of the card, and make sure you have the latest directx (9C i think) installed You can try as i did some older graphic card drivers for your model as Nvidia now seem to make generic force drivers for all models. I had luck with different drivers for a while, but ended up buying an ATI graphics card and as of yet after a year had no graphic problems.

Game textures problem

Try uninstalling the driver and all nvidia products, download the latest driver from nvidia's website. If that doesnt work, then your motherboard is the problem. Older AGP motherboards tend to have problems witht eh geforce 6200/6600 series cards, I recommend updating those drivers and seeing what the deal is.
