Why have my Picasa files disappeared? I imported 460 pics last night and can't find them or any of the other files. Picasa keeps compressing files.

Picasa saves all the files to the hard drive. You can have many locations for pictures. It is possible the pictures are stored in a directory that is not being scanned continuously by Picasa. Since the files are on the hard drive, even the Picasa data for edits to the pictures are saved to the hard drive. So you could un-install the program and not lose the picture. You might lose the setup for what directories the program looks at. You can see the folders it uses to make the on screen thumbnails. Go to TOOLS -> FOLDER MANAGER. This is where you define the folders for Picasa.

If you imported the pictures from a camera using the import tool, the directory you specified is where the pictures are now. You also had the option to delete imported pictures, or not. If you try to IMPORT again from the main screen, look to the bottom left for the IMPORT TO: drop down and see where it is defaulting. Make sure that directory is being scanned in the folder manager.

Post again if this didn't help and add more information. As to where you were importing from and to. If the pictures still exist on the source, etc.

How do I transfer contents of one file from another both on picasa

You highlight all the photos in one folder (cntrl + A is an easy way to do this), then click and drag that group to the desired folder icon shown on the folder views on the left.
Note: to click and drag the group, you can click and drag any single photo IN the group, the rest of the pictures will come along.
You may have to scroll the folder list on the left to find the folder you want to move the pics to.
I used the term folder for what you call 'file'. To me, file can also mean an individual item in a folder, so I just want to be clear.

Kodak cx6330 will not transfer pics to computer

1) Go to My Computer > Select the photo camera device > Right click > Explore > Copy all files (photographs) as from any normal folder.
2) Take out your SD memory card, put it the USB card reader: http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=516872 If you have a modern laptop - it will have a special card reader slot. Go to My Computer > Select the SD card > Right click > Explore > Copy all files (photographs) as from any normal folder.
3) Try Picasa (picasa.google.com), install, run and import pictures with this program.

Kodak Easyshare V803 "unrecognized file format."

Sounds like there is a fault in the SD card.

Try an alt. card reader and computer.

Hopefully you will have the chance to retrieve the pics. If not ;(

Once pics are transferred. The SD card needs to be formatted. Remember this will delete all data on the card.

Downloading problems

Fuji S5200/5600 are indeed pretty slow to download pictures when directly linked to a computer throught the USB port.
The only solution to speed up downloading is to remove from the camera the XD card and put it in a card reader provided with USB 2 interface.
Picasa, too, is not the fastest program to copy pictures on your PC. In my experience, XN View
(free) is faster than Picasa in copyng pics.

Problem with JPEG compression?

think what is happening is that Pentax is not using the maximum JPEG quality value for their high quality setting. I re-saved an image in Photoshop last night, and the JPEG quality value was set to 9. I increased it to 12, and ended up with a 3.5 MB file.
