Why does my Miele F7462 SNH-1 11 years old display temps of -25 when it's set at -18. After switch off and return to -18 it repeats the process?

To access the No-Frost System located on top of your Miele tall freezer F7462 SNH-1, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the freezer and remove all items from the freezer compartment.
2. Locate the air grille on the top of the freezer.
3. Remove the air grille by pulling it upwards from the front edge.
4. You should now be able to see the No-Frost System behind the air grille.
5. Use a soft-bristled brush or a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust or debris from the No-Frost System.
6. Once you have finished cleaning, replace the air grille by pushing it back into place.

Note: If you are not comfortable accessing the No-Frost System on your own, it is recommended to consult the Miele customer service or a professional technician for assistance.

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

The normal setting for a freezer is -2 to +2 degrees F., and the normal setting for the fresh food section is +35 to +40 degrees F.

You only have one source of cooling and that is your freezer. With the settings that you have, you are asking your unit to do what it is not designed to do.

The ice maker is struggling because if it is a cast steel ice cube mold, the heater beneath it is not designed for the current to break the ice cubes free @ -18 degrees F., or if you have a plastic flex ice cube mold it is too ridged to flex enough to break the ice cubes free. Normally your ice maker should dump 8-10 times in a 24 hour period.

A note on food storage. Make sure you do not overload your freezer of fresh food section to the point where food product extends beyond the edge of the shelves.

If its low on refrigerant then there is no way it can get down to that temp.

Check/ clean condenser grille and see if it is very warm but not excessively hot. If it is only lukewarm, short of gas or frozen solid inside. If fanned, check fan ok.

Sorry to read about your problem. you can have many different problems.

check to see if you have power

1. Bad temp control
2. Failing compressor
3. Defective start cap
4. Defective overload protector
5. Defective control board

Hi, I think you have tell wrong model . Please try find out the temperature controller. Your freezer should able to adjust temperature from 0 - 18 Deg. F

Try turning off the temp. switch off.
Then plug it in and turn the temp on!
this may reset it.
Repeat one more time and let me know ho it went!


How old is the appliance?
If the appliance is 10 years old or more you may not be advisable to put good money into bad!
New appliances are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy!!!!
You need a hands on tech for this repair!
