Hello Sbeban hi!, Most likely you have power supply problems. to fix this you need to replace the power supply board. or get professional help, by bringing it for repairs on your dealer. Now to do it yourself, you need a replacement PS board. Now finding on is difficult. I cannot help you here. search ebay, call your computer shop or dealer. then when you get the refurbish board. disassemble it and replace the old PS board with the new one.

The laptop turns on, but the screen stays black

If you can shine a light into the screen and faintly make out the images? Then it's probably the inverter/backlight board, not too expensive or difficult to replace in most cases. Let us know.

Disappearing screen picture

Sounds like the battery is weak and it tried to save power by dimming the screen. You might need to contact the manufacturer and get it replaced if under warranty. If not, mess around with it a bit and if you can't solve it then buy a new one from the company.

I have a FPD 1830 flat screen monitor not displaying picture

Send the monitor. It's a power supply problem. My 15.4" LCD has the problem, too, whenever I move the monitor down, it powers off, and the menu disappears as well, but I'm going to fix the screen.

Laptop monitor blacks out, but when you hit the toggle....

Sounds like you need a new Switch. Oxidation has probably built up in the switch. It can be fixed. Probably shop around for a certified tech who can replace it. The switch is cheap, Labor is starting around $65 - $90. You said you can faintly see the desktop. This is the invertor board inside the LCD assembly that causes this. Again if it needs to be replaced, the invertor is fairly inexpensive, labor isn't. The technician that ckecks out the laptop can determine what it needs. Yea, your right, it is a good laptop and it is worth fixing. Just a heads up, if the tech says you need a new motherboard, he's lying, find another tech.
