Hello,

Thanks for the follow up. I let the Dyson sit unplugged for an hour, I then replugged it in and it was working. I'm assuming the rope item shutdown was an overheat and it needed to cool down.

All is well.

Thanks again.

Have a good day.

How do I take dyson dc25 apart to change reset switch

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

I don't think there is a reset button to any Dyson cleaners. However, your Dyson vacuum has a safety device which automatically shuts off if it begins to overheat. In cases like this, you may need to wash your filters and check for blockages. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Before turning it back on, make sure that there are no blockages in the attachments and filters are washed.

Dyson DC25 brush won't spin when touching the floor. If I lift it off the floor it spins, once it touches the floor it stops. Any idea what the problem is?

I can think of three things that could be wrong.

The easiest one is that the brush has hair and fluff wrapped around its bearing. This happened to me and was causing a burning rubber smell. Turn it over and remove the base plate. Lift the belt by putting a piece of cord under it and slide the brush out. Remove one end of the brush and slide the spindle out. Clean all the hair out and reassemble.

The internal drive belt is worn, or the nylon bush that it runs on.

The clutch is worn out.

The last two are not as easy to fix as the main drive belt is enclosed in the centre of the clutch. There are videos though that show you the process. Have a read and a watch, but try my first tip first.

Dyson dc25 roller bar works but no suction

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, this may be due to a blockage. The filters may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

    http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1148&product=DC25-ANIMAL

In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for them to dry completely before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our Helpline a call free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

    Roller burush is not turning

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having a problem with your DC25. Please note, the brushbar never rotates when the cleaner is stood in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the silver switch next to the red on/off switch.

DC25 is equipped with a safety cutout device which shuts off the brushbar if it becomes tangled with a rug fringe, etc. It's very easy to reset - our online video guide shows you how to do this:

    http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1984&product=DC25-ALLFLOORS

If you've followed these steps and are still having difficulties, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some checks over the phone and provide the assistance you need.

Dc25 powers up then shuts off

    Hi Crystal,

There could be a few things wrong. The indication is that your Dyson is overheating and the safety switch is turning it off. There are some easy remedies for this if nothing worse is wrong.

Clean your filter or replace it.
Check all the hoses, brushes, and belts for debris stuck in them.
    Does you brush turn?
Do you smell anything hot or burning?

The usual problem is one of the first two suggestions.

If this doesn't work, please reply back and we'll investigate further.

I hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

    Handie Andie

Non working roller brush on dyson dc25 vacuum cleaner

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner is pulsating off and on. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.
