Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
Hey there, first thing you need to do is check that the card and drivers are installed. Right click my computer=> properties=> hardware=> device manager click on the plus sign next to network adapters and check that there is a WLAN adapter and check that there are no yellow question marks. If there is an adapter there, right click on it and uninstall it. Reboot the laptop and it should reinstall the driver on its own. If it does not, go to the following link and get your driver. Just put in your prod number (ie dv9074cl) click on driver downloads and pick your operrating system and it will pull up a list of drivers for that laptop. Just find the wireless drivers, download and install them. Let me know if this helps you. These laptops also are famous for overheating and the wireless cards going bad. The heatsink fins are located in the back left corner and need to be blown out with canned air on a regular basis. Also, when you are in the driver list make sure you at least update the bios to he newes version. This will help with the overheating prolem slightly (fan control) Let me know if you are still stuck or need anything else.
