The window unit is turned on, but doesnt seem to be very strong with blowing cold air . is there something that can be checked on the unit? something that can be replaced on the unit-like a filter? since it is in a west window and very hot outside...is it just harder to keep cool?

First make sure the filter and coils are clean, then be sure you have it set for recirculate and not outside air allowance, and if ou wait til the room is very hot it will take a while to cool that room down to a comfort level. the fan and temperature control should both be at maximum if the room is very hot.

My 1993 Z28 camaro blows strong air but not cold in summer and defrost will not clean the windows. What could be the cause of this problem?

My Camaro's are all victoms of the air flow control vaulve. My 77 had a cable that phyisically opened and shut off air flowfrom the heat and cold side and operated as I moved it from cold to heat. Then they came out with Vacuum assisted air control units that when the rubber vaccum tube dehydraded, it would be stuck in what ever it was in last, say A/C, or if u had the heater on that day. You have either cables or air hoses that open and close certain doors under your dash according to where you place the enviromental control to. 9 times out of 10, that control mechinisim froze up, a plennum door could have broken off leaving that area always open and the heater is always off. Check the book, im not 100% but it may be all electronic in the 93's if so, first check your fuses. Also check the passenger floor board for dampness. If the passenger floor board is wet, then your heater core ruptured also. It's a mini radiator under the pass. side dash. But the real deal is the air vents that open and close according to your input are not moving at all, and if they are electronic well Don't rip the dash out, that is a pain to reinstall LOL, Best bet is to take it to the chevy house because if you get the book, u'll see theres quite a few moving parts and with old plastic and them dehydrating, you can easly brake a door control and make matters worse. Good luck.

My air conditioner is no longer blowing cold air it only seems so be on fan mode though i have it set on cold. Also there is a wire hanging down behind the filter which i hadn't seen in the past.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. The first thing to check is the filter in the furnace or air handler. Also check the inside coil to be sure its not frozen up. Does the air coming out feel cold? It sounds like the unit could be low on charge which means it has a leak and should be leak checked repaired and properly charged. You would need refrigeration gauges to put on the system in order to properly check the refrigerant charge in the system. One other thing could be a dirty condenser coil. Turn the power off to the unit and use a garden hose with a strong nozzle and spray water through the whole coil to try and blow any dirt or debris through the condenser coil in the outside unit.

The ac is a window unit its blowing air out strongly but the air coming out is not cold

Make sure the condenser fan is running. That is the one that blows hot air outside. Also see if you can tell if the compressor is running. There is a discharge line and a suction line on the compressor. The suction line should feel cold and the discharge line will be very hot. If the condenser fan and compressor are both running then you may need to get the refrigerant charge checked.

My lesabre blows warm air on driver side cool air on passenger side

If you have dual climate control, you most likely have a low freon level. The evaporator can get cold enough for the passenger side (where the evaporator is located), but not cold enough to transfer cold air to the passenger side. Have it inspected for a leak and the freon level topped off.

Hello Eric,

Let me see if this will be of any help take the front cover off and check to see if any packing material has fallen down in the air baffle. this will be towards the top of the unit on the inside. Also check to make sure that any insulation seems to be in place.
