First of all, we need to check whether the Webcam is listed in the Device Manager or not.
Follow the instructions to access Device Manager in Vista :
Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
In the window that opens, click on Device Manager in the left pane of the window.
The Device Manager opens in a seperate window.
In the Device Manager window, you sholuld be able to locate the Webcam which sould be under Imaging Devices
or Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
If it is listed, you need to right click on it and select Disable
Now, right click it again and select Enable.
Now, try using the webcam.
If the error message still appears, try stopping the Windows Media Center Receiver
service which will be actually used when any video capturing device is being used like a TV Tuner Card in Notebooks.
Click on Start and type Services
in the Search box.
Right click on the Services
among the results in the top of the start menu and select Run as administrator.
This will open the Windows Services window.
In this, locate the Windows Media Center Receiver Service
and right click on it and select Properties.
In the Startup type
, select Manual
and click on Stop
button to stop the service.
Now, close the window and restart the Notebook.
You should be able to use the webcam normally.
