Question about Refrigerators

Fridge not cooling and freezer intermittent

I discovered my freezer (Whirlpool ARC 7720) had defrosted so I switched it off and on again and it seemed to work fine but only for ~10 hours so now I have to reset it every morning and evening. Now the fridge does also not seem to be cooling. Anyone know what the problem is?
many thanks

Your defrost cycle is every 10 to 12 hours depending on how old the defrost timer is. if your building up frost on rear wall of freezer section then your problem will be that your units defrost cycle has failed. you turning it off lets the frost melt in return you are restoring air flow over the evaporator. ohm out your defrost heater and defrost bi-metal. could be defrost timer.

Whirlpool fridge/freezer ARC 7050

see if you can remove panel inside freezer to see if its full of ice all over condenser .Even if you already defrosted for 1 day..If its full of ice ..Then the DEFROSTER COIL is not working and not melting the ice on condenser and then stoping the cycle therefore compressor will stop running..Also there should be a a couple of thermal switches on the condenser(two wires) if this is bad then there is no cycle..goodluck

The fridge dont work properly, the the temperature of the freezer and fridge seems to be the same and it switches off for a long time and goes on again causing the food to defrost and go bad.

Hi,
Usually that is caused by the defrost timer/control sticking on...

Whirlpool double door fridge side is not cooling,

sounds like a defrost problem. check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. if so, it is not defrosting like it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
