Can't locate a cartridge stylus with headshell
for an Ion ttusb10 turntable.

Or just the headshell would be okay.

I also own this turntable. The latest research I found on this unit is the needle is made by Crosley. This is the same brand that makes those nostalgic looking all in one audio products. If you can find who carries the Crosley replacement needles for those units it will fit the Ion turntable.

It sounds like you have not mounted the cartridge right to the headshell. There should be some screws that hold it on. Adjust the cartridge so it looks right to the eye and is not going to catch anything.
The counterweight should then be set to that recommended for that make of cartridge. If you don't have the information, look up the cartridge online. The make and model number should be on it somewhere.

The needle is broken off can it be fixed for less then the turntable cost?

Yes it can. On the head of the arm if you look carefully where the needle (to give it's correct name -stylus) is. What it fits into is a cartridge. If you can see letters or numbers on it that will be the type. If you put that into Google it should find it. You should find if it is possible to buy the stylus with or without the cartridge. Though it's often cheaper to buy both. The cartridge will either be screwed onto the head or just clipped on someway. You will find four wires attached to the cartridge. These will have to be removed if you have to replace the cartridge. Make a note of how each wire attaches to the cartridge. As long as you can get a cartridge to fit the headshell you can use any magnetic cartridge for the job. All you would need to do with a different cartridge is adjust the weight to apply the correct pressure to the stylus.
If the cartridge doesn't have any number etc on it, put the make/model number of the turntable into Google adding cartridge/stylus.

What is required to convert 78rpm records to mp3 format?

The cartridge must have a stylus for 78rpm records. If the turntable does not have a 78 speed play it back at 45rpm. Record it and using the software you have or get one such as Audio Cleaning Lab, just select the option to convert from 45 to 78. You can then carry out any audio modifications to clean it up, then save it as an MP3.
Never use a 45/33 stylus to play a 78 and never use a 78 to play a 45/33 record.

Hi guys. do I connect the headphone out from a cassette player to the 1/8" jack on my ion turntable to record cassettes? Thanks. Joe Markovich marko74@verizon.net

If you mean the RCA jack pair, yes. Set the switch underneath the TT to LINE. That raises the cartridge output toa usable Line Level.

Go to http://audio.manualsonline.com to find the manual. Register and you will find it under ION.

Can i purchase a needle for the ION ITTUSB ?

Yes but it is not the needle you would buy (ah in the old days it was a needle) but a cartridge

The user manual available here gives you a little more detail.

It is sometimes possible to get the needle assembly for the more expesive cartridges but yoy would need to know the cartridge make and model for that.

If you unscrew the headshell locking ring on the tone arm you can remove the cartridge by pulling it out (hold the arm and the headshell doing this)

This would give you a better idea of the cartridge make and model and also allow you to see how it is mounted (2 screws) to the headshell.

Belt wasn't included when product delivered

Are you sure? Sometimes the belt is shipped around the platter, and if you don't look carefully, it will seem like its not there.

Magnavox Stylus

We need to know the model number of the CARTRIDGE itself. Doesn't matter what turntable you have. All that matters is what cartridge is mounted on the turntable, so that we can match the correct stylus. The stylus/needle connects to the Cartridge:

As the diagram shows, the stylus mounts to the cartridge, which then mounts to the headshell. This headshell is then connected to the tonearm (tube).

So, if you look at the cartridge you should be able to see the model number. If not, there is no way to match up the stylus, as ther are literally THOUSANDS of styli on the market. I would suggest purchasing a NEW cartridge/stylus combination. The following should fit your model:
