You are printing a pictures that was made in RGB mode (red green blue). You need to convert this picture to CMYK which is how printers print.
See how here: http://www.printingforless.com/rgb-cmyk.html
When you want to print a document, go to Printer Preferences and check the "Grayscale printing" checkbox. Then, it will print also black and white images.
When ink cartridges get low they can dry out if you do not print that frequently. So try a new cartridge. Make sure that the carriage is clean, wipe down the copper contacts on the carriage under the black cartridge with alcohol. Also ensure that the cartridges themselves are not all coated in ink.
The color cartridges print text that appears black by mixing the three primary colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) to make composite black. To achieve a realistic black, large quantities of colored ink are used. Because black cartridges use much less ink to create a similar shade of black, they print more pages in black than the color cartridge.
If the color cartridges on the printer are next to empty, you will not be able to get perfect prints at all.
Please have the cartridges replaced to do the printing jobs again.
there is a encoder strip in the printer to which the cartridge head carriage reads .if this encoder strip is dusty or loose the carriage cannot read so it bangs from left to right.and due to this printer cannot get set to its position.and the orange error light blinks.that transperant long strip with blacl vertical lines on it has to be checked.
