Question about Dell Dimension 8300 PC Desktop

My dell desktop screen says AutoAdjust and then

My dell desktop screen says AutoAdjust and then goes black. If you turn the monitor off and then right back on again you can see everything clear as day for about three seconds and then it goes black again. The computer works fine during this. I can get on the internet, inot all of my documents, log off, log on etc. I have to keep turning the monitor off and then on to see what i am doing. I did that to make sure the computer was working fine.

The monitors inverter seems to be failing. If you look up close, can you see a very faint image of the desktop?

You should think about getting a new monitor it might be cheaper than repairing.

Dell 1704 monitor goes to black screen after one

Hi my name is Rain.
Ok so that im clear on the problem. your monitor will come on but in a matter of seconds it goes to a black screen?
If this is the problem. The answers you seek will most likely
be in your video card.
Try this test:
  • Unplug monitor from the computer.
  • Turn on monitor .
  • Look for monitor self test screen.
If you see the monitors self test screen then your problem indeed is
the video card . You will need to replace the video card inside of the computer.

UltraSharp 19' Screen will not autoadjust.

Start in SAFE mode (press F8 wile booting) and choose Last Known Good to see if it works in Windows DEFAULT setting.

My guess is that MSoft pushed a patch or SP to your box and IT replaced the dll your monitor was using.

Goto www.support.dell.com and DL the correct drivers again

Good Luck!

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Monitor is bad for sure. Try another known good monitor on your computer and if the problem stops then you know for sure the original monitor is bad. Hope this helps.

Dell monitor

Sounds like there is a heat related problem. Probably a bad solder joint somewhere. Could be hard to track and would probably cost you more money to repair and it does to purchase a replacement monitor. 17" LCDs go for around $150 these days.
