Luckily I got this software and this software has helped me a lot in recovering partition. If my external hard drive is 1000gb how come it only showing 931gb what has happen to 69gb

Check the drive partitions. You probably have a small partition that is separate from the main partition and it contains drivers and files needed for various operating systems to use the drive properly. It is best if you use drive partition software for this but that is the most common reason for it to show a difference. The second most common reason is the drive wasn't formatted to capacity. I have this drive and I know for a fact the backup software and and driver software are stored on a small partition on that drive which reduces the amount of the main partition.

I have Imation fash drive. I settled the Imation lock security 2.26. Now my flash drive has 2 partitions. Now i want to delete this partition and make the one drive. But i done several things to do...

Usually these flash drives create two partitions into the drive itself. The software does not create another drive letter for the other partition but instead it remains in the flash drive itself.

When you plug the drive into your computer, you can see the Imation drive and in order for you to access the secure partition you have to open the device and then the software. If you do not want to use the software, you can just delete it by either formatting the drive or erasing the software icon as if you were deleting a regular file.

Before removing the application remember to re-size the partitions and assign all the space to the public using that secure software. Otherwise, once the software is deleted you will only see the space for the public portion but you will loose the rest of the space that was assigned for the secure.

Have to make partition as C and D drive

Since you have used the recovery disc to restore the system, it will automatically create partitions on the system, in your case, just one major partition which is Drive C (C:). If you want to add partitions on your system, you can use partition editor software such as Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and Acronis Partition Manager. These software gets a portion of the main Partition (Unused / Free space) and creates a new one. You can create multiple partitions depending on the size of the Hard Drive on the system. These Software are not Free, if you want to use a free software for editing the parition, you can use Gparted (Found in : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ ). Though Gparted is free, it is harder to use compared to the first 2 software mentioned. If you want to use a user friendly sofware, I suggest that you use Acronis Partition Manager or Norton Partition Magic 8.0.

USB device not recognized

Hi,
if it,s showing in the device manager as an exclamation mark. that means it,s found it, but can,t recognise it.
i,d suggest formatting and partitioning it, with some good software. also ensure that it,s powered via 2 usb cables to laptop, from 1 on the drive itself. some bigger hard-drives, need the extra power to drive them.

Hard drive

Hi,
You can install a software called partition magic and use it to merge the two partitions into one.
But you might need to free some space on your C drive. What you can do is copy (CUT) all your My Documents data and paste it to your D drive or your second drive. This should free a lot of space enough to install partition magic.

You can download the trial version software from http://www.soft32.com/download_151.html
Install it and merge your partitions and then you can uninstall or purchase if you want.

I wan to use windows 98 along with XP

this is tricky as win98 is not supported and can not work on faster processors, The book says 2 gig but I had a problem on 1.8 ghz.

the next problem is win98 does not rceognize ntfs file systems. so a bootable partion manager (like linux GParted) would have to be run, to shrink the ntfs partition without altering content to allow another partition to be created then formatted into FAT32 so you could load 98 from a bootable cd.
