Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV40 Camcorder
I have the same problem with a Sony CCD-TRV40. The unit will close fine without a tape in it, but when I insert a tape, it will not close and it starts to click. Any help would be appreciated. I worked on a TRV350 the other day and solved a problem with it...manually make the tape reels move to clear a problem so I thought someone out there might know how to clear this problem.

Hello, exact same problem here, closes fine when no tape inserted, but with a tape, the camera won't close, just keeps ejecting the tape.
Another problem that I encountered is that the camera will not take pictures anymore.
When I press the button, it beeps, but there appears a green dot on the screen,
My handbook tells me, when this dot appears on the screen, this means he camera will not take a picture, it however doesn't tell me how to solve the problem.

I took the camera to Canon to get fixed and it cost me $270. They said they needed to replace the internal head thing whatever its called. I am very disappointed that the camera was so crap that it broke down in the first place. Seems a little strange that so many people have had EXACTLY the same problem... hmmm.
