This works for the Uniden D1660 and similar dect 6.0 models:
On the lower right corner of the keypad, press the # [silent] key.
One press put it into 'silent mode', another press takes it out.

I to am stuck in silent mode, voicemail won't work, the whole entire phone is jacked up, just because i had my phone number changed, are you kidding me?? Not ringing, not doing anything @ all, can someone tell me what to do? please thnx :)
Press and hold the pound key (#) until it exits silent mode.
Here is the original text from the manual of the phone:
"Quickly Switching to Silent Mode Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone from making noise, in a theater for example. In Idle mode, press and hold the "#" key until the “Silent Mode” message and the Vibration icon display...
To exit and reactivate the previous sound settings, press and hold the # key again until “Exit Silent Mode” appears. The Vibration icon no longer displays."
