i too face the same problem . i found that XP sp2 does not have UAA with it but it is with XP sp3. so either you download UAA and install it and install your audio driver or you upgrade to XP sp3 and install audio driver alone.

First of all turn off your system automatic updates forever otherwise your driver is uninstall automaticly......yes this is a problem with compaq c700 laptop because this laptop made only for vista.......

I will give u all drivers link....go to hp.com and search it..
for modem -sp33442, for audio-sp35270, for sm bus controller-sp36492, for quick lounch sp38171, for UAA sp32395, for webcam sp37849, download all drivers and install it.

and install drivers follow these steps:

Open device manager and right-click on Audio device on High definition Audio Bus.
Select Install from a list of specific location (Advanced) Click Next
Select Don’t Search. I will choose the driver to install.
Select Sound, Game & video controller from the list of Hardware type
Click on Have Disk
Click on Browse and navigate to C:\swsetup\sp35270 and click on .ini file OK
Click Next
It will give you an update driver warning message. Click on yes.
It will start installing the driver
Click on Finish..
follow the same steps to install all drivers.
