Question about Sport & Outdoor - Others
I have a Yamaha gas driven golfcart. My cart's legal to be on the street, licensed and signals, and etc. Adter a short period of time when the engine gets hot something electrical shuts down. I must wait to start it again.
I can cross over with a screwdriver across the voltage regulator bolts and it will start.

It's possible that you are getting a vacuum in your gas tank because the cap isn't vented. This can cause this exact condition.

Sounds like a spark plug issue. If the spark plug is not torqued after a good number of months it can seep at high rev sustained pressure. Otherwise I would look at the spark compensator or possibly the float.

SOURCE: i have a yamaha gas
it sounds like the choke is stuck in the carb if im right it has a bolt with the cable going thru it
listen the bole and free up the cable
if its not seized than the float is hanging up try tapping the side of the carb with a small hammer
you don't need to hit it very hard the reason be the needle seat is open and letting the fuel run
wild and flooding the motor out
hope this helps you

SOURCE: I have a yamaha raptor
you most defiantly have a short you need to trace the wires down
and find out witch one is grounded
you may even have a bad alternator that's grounded or the regulator
the way they make things to day its very hard to test some units
its all going to be trial and error
hope this helps you
