Yes it is a heat pump. On the AC setting the suction and discharge are at 60 PSI, in the heat setting the suction and discharge pressures were at 325 PSI. The tech that looked at it was very confused and could not help. The refrigerant is 410.

That makes sense and I did ask that question. The suction line is running hot in bo

Sorry to sat but the tech has no idea what he is doing. The metering device is in the discharge valve, making that line a low pressure, not high. If the "suction" line is hotthen it is running in heat mode.

now when you say the suction line is hot in cool, is it hot or just warm?

  • seth veloso Jun 25, 2009

If you are running a 60 psi suction, chances are you are low on charge or you have a restriction in the metering device. This will cause the ice, and lack of refrigerant will not cool the compressor, causing it to overheat and eventually fail. In order to recharge with r410a you need to pull out what is in there and replace with all new because it is made up of different compounds and one may have leaked out more than the other. Also make sure the leak is found before recharging or you will have to do it again

I got a 5 ton Carrier with a ADP coil and txv and can't get the pressure to go up on the suction line

is there pressure in the high side? equalize the high/low sides pressure thru the use of gages and start the compressor and take note. The condensor valves should be opened to the evaporator, both high and lowsides

What is the pressure range of 1.5 ton window ac compressor

All air conditioners run on the same pressure, I stay in a hot country but would think its the same all around the world. Discharge pressure should run on 1750 kpa and suction 4100 kpa
Hope this is what you where looking for

1.5 ton straight cool condenser....head pressure good at 250 psig....suction pressure will not go higher than 55 superheat indicates target suction pressure at 68 psig....o/d coil clean,...

Hello take a evap coil split (return temp vs supply temp) 18*F would be great. If it is lousy the TXV valve is restricting the flow of freon or the filter drier is clogging.Adding freon will overcharge the system and the suction will NOT improve.

Compressor continues to run but doesn't refill so no pressure

hi there, several reason can be consider, check the belt tension slipway of belt can cause lost compression, but if belt is good, mainly lost compression causes of worn out compression ring,or the discharge valve is not functioning the air is flowing back.try to disconnect the belt, rotate the pulley manually you can feel at the suction side if air is sucking on suction side.if air is not entering in the suction side.replace piston ring.have a nice day dont frget to fix my rate thanks a lot.

The pressure will not build up

Remove the air from the compressor using the drain valve.
Remove the discharge hose. The one that goes from the pump to the tank.
Remove the air filter (and check condition)
switch the compressor on an with your hand, partially cover the air intake where the air filter bolts on(be carfull not to fully cover it).
You should feel the pump drawing air in.
If it dosn't draw you have a broken/leaking valve or a blown cross-over gasket if it is of the type with a split valve plate.
You'd need to remove the head/valves/plate to confirm this.

If it did draw in air,
Stop the compressor & re-fit the discharge hose.
Now run for a few seconds and check the draw again.
If its suction reduces you also have a valve/plate/cross-over gasket problem.

If it draws fine.

stop the compressor and loosen the discharge hose at the tank end.
You may hear a short air leak at first, but you should not hear air contniously leaking.
If it continiously leaks air then the check valve in the tank is shot.
NOTE: NEVER remove this valve if the compressor has air in the tank/receiver.
This should locate your problem for you.

Two lennox heatpump 71/2 tons

check the true psi with the line psi to see if same if psi is good in cooling 225 hi and 70 low on 80'day then compressor is fine and i would start checking for temp difference on the reversing valve sometimes this will cause high suction or high discharge psi shift it manually with by energising it be cooling or heating then pull wire and see how it shifts if shifts good then txv on out door unit could be bad what is the psi in heating on the discharge line going to the indoor unit? most prv's are set at about 350 psi r22 as for suction line size its only hot gas in hp mode os no problem their shows in cooling mode as low suction psi ..hope this helps some also make sure indoor coil is clean!....thanks & rate me

2 ton sanyo suction pressure erratic

Your suction pressure is erratic, your max. pressure is to much high. You did not measure your unit current reading liquid line press. to complete the data. But the problem of your unit is not the compressor its the system. Try to reprocess the system flush the unit with nitrogen, isolate the capillary tube and flush it with nitrogen to insure that no restriction.
