Re: buzzing noise from TV
No, you need to replace just the color wheel, you can try to oil it since is already busted you will not have too much to risk. try to add it to the moving areas of the ball bearing (only if the color wheel is mechanic) because there is one color wheel that haves air suspension and that might damage it

You can try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 2 hours and let the tv cool and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..if the fan does not run then you may need to replace the fan as its vital part which cools the tv part ,to fix this issue....
The tv problems and causes are 100% is the tv colors wheel it is causes and the tv problems. The tv are having humming or loud buzzing noises sounds are the causes of the tv colors wheel going off and out control of it motor mount and spinning in at high RPM speed and different colors showing up or flahes of black and white color in the tv back ground. The tv colors wheel must have to be replace.Best hire a tv tech to do the replacement of the tv colors wheel, because have to take out many mechanicals parts before can even come to the tv colors wheel is self to replace it.
The buzz can be the color wheel or one of the cooling fans going bad. The only other thing that could cause a buzz would be the ballast going bad. Call a local repair shop to further diagnose the problem
Samsung is notorious for having the motor on the color wheel burn out. If the color on the tv starts to fade or shift tones when the rev'ing or noise is happening then you'll know its the color wheel. There are only two moving parts in this set, the color wheel and the fans. If you're smelling something, it could be either. Take the back off the set and put a piece of tape on the lamp door switch and turn the set on. Try to pinpoint the source of the noise. If its a fan, no big deal, Radio shack should have a replacement. If it sounds like its comming from under the set, dig a little deeper and try unhooking the color wheel motor, not as easy as I am making it sound but either way the fan is about $20 to fix and the color wheel is about $100. Sure beats a $400 tech bill. If you get stuck, comment back and I'll send pictures of the dismantle.
Sounds like the color wheel or coolin fan both can cause this symptom. If it stops as soon as the set is turned off its probably the color wheel. If it continues for a minute after power is off its most likely the cooling fan.
it is the color wheel i have a similar problem and am looking for the part, the color wheel is a small electric motor that spins at a high speed and it can go bad. which will lead to the horrible squeel/hum/buzz.
i constantly hear complaints about fan noise in dlptvs
if you sit in front of your computer you will hear the same noise
even in the next room
there is no solution to the fan noise problem
this product has a huge cage fan and a second and third three inch fans in it.... more than the samsung product
it can be noticeable if the tv is on hard surfaces
ie wood floors ,inthe corner, glass top etc
the vents on the back of the tv allow for proper cooling of the lamp at shutoff so it doesnt shatter the tube
its kinda like annealing glass
its designed to extend the life of the lamp ....
which im sure youve priced
call toshiba and tell them your lamp is bad right now and get a new one for an emergency ( warranty if you can do it )
they are also improved
this product is known to have short bulb life
sometimes the zinging noise you hear is indicative of a bad color wheel in the light engine which would require replacement
( not cheap)
toshiba will not piece out the color wheel assembly individually
