Nope, not locked.Just damaged keys. The liquid must've leaked into the keys and is either preventing contact or shot the electronics.

Tip

Liquid spills

Todays notebooks & laptops come equipped with spill resistant keyboards. Thats a big help in itself. But some are not . If your notebook has suffered a liquid spill while its on , IMMEDIATELY shut it down. GET AWAY from carpeting or metal furniture or objects: stand on wood or cement floor only. Turn the unit and place on its side to drain it from the liquid (NOT UPSIDE DOWN) and to avoid further damage to mainboard and keyboard. DO NOT TURN IT ON AGAIN  . Remove the battery, hard disk drive, CDROM, memory modules, remove back cover, until exposed to mainboard. Take conventional hair dryer, blow dry using HIGH heat, slowly move over peripherals and mainboard  five inches away with  Extra drying process on keyboard and mainboard. Using a few cotton balls, pat down any excess liquid by absorbing into cotton -- blow dry this area intensley for long time (20-35 minutes, depending on amount of liquid spill). Wait a few days , replace all parts and turn on notebook.

My inspiron mini 1018 notebook's keyboard is not working properly. The left shift key appears to be stuck and I really having a hard time using the whole keyboard. I remember having spilled a few drops...

When water spills into a notebook, you should fully disassemble the notebook & thoroughly inspect its inside. Look for any traces of liquid on the circuit boards & on other components. On circuit boards, liquid damage appears in the form of whitish traces. These needs to be wiped off. This can be done using a tooth brush moistened with few drops of hand sanitizer liquid.
Check all internal connectors & make sure that no liquid seeped into them. Dry them if needed.
When you are done, re-assemble back the notebook.
If the liquid fell on the keyboard & you found out that the keyboard is no longer working, then you might have to replace the keyboard.

Spilled icetea on to laptop keyboard, will power up but nothing else screen is black. hp nc4200

Ugh, sorry you had the accident, but many a laptop has survived such a spill (or in my case spills) and booted to tell the tale.

I'm assuming you now have the machine powered off, if not shut ot down immediately and do not try to restart it until you have done the following. There is kind of a standard procedure for laptop spills that I will provide you.

The suggestions below assume that your nc4200 is no longer under warranty.

Remove anything attached to the machine, battery, cables, external drives, anything. Using a soft, slightly damp (yes damp - got to remove as much of that sugar as possible) cloth blot any liquid on the machine gently, do not rub.

Tilt the laptop gently from side to side to allow any possible liquid to drain out. Do not shake the laptop. The Place the laptop upside down so that any potential remaining liquid will drain out. Hopefully you did not spill this amount of tea 8^).

Secure a regular hair blow dryer. Set it to low and slowly move it back and forth over the keyboard from about six inches and do the same for the rest of the machine, focusing attention to the openings that it has for ventilation. Do this for about five minutes or so.

Now the hard part: Set aside the machine in a warm (not hot place) and wait (at least four hours and if you can wait overnight, even better).

Try booting it with nothing attached. If it still doesn't boot the problem has gone beyond the keyboard and you'll have to consider having it professionally serviced.

Good Luck and thanks for using Fix Ya

remove the battery open up the notebook then spray rubbing alcohol all over the computer keyboard and, especially where you spilled liquid; really soak it; wait 24 hours for it to dry; and, try to turn it on with the power supply connected

Liquid spash on Samsung LCD monitor - now won't power up.

It can ruin your computer. Act quickly if this happens, because it only takes seconds for liquids to destroy the hard drive of a laptop computer.
Step One
Shut down the computer immediately.
Step Two
Wipe up any liquid. Tilt the computer to the side to drain any liquids.
Step Three
Remove any removable parts from the laptop, including the power cord, printer and mouse cables, the floppy drive, CD drive, modem cards and battery. Do not disassemble the laptop body to remove internal parts.
Step Four
Once the parts are removed, gently lift the computer and turn it to the side and upside down to drain any liquid. Tilt the computer in a variety of directions to verify that there are no pools of liquid lurking, but be careful not to shake it or handle it roughly.
Step Five
Repeat with the floppy drive and other removable parts.
Step Six
Use a hair dryer on a cool setting to dry the laptop and its parts if you can.
Step Seven
Allow the computer and its removable parts to dry for 24 hours before you reassemble it and turn it back on. (If you are under a tight deadline, let the laptop dry for at least an hour before you reassemble it.)
Step Eight
If the computer does not work properly or does not turn on, bring it to a computer repair professional, although the damage might be irreparable. Spills are one of the leading causes of laptop deaths.

the more you leave it on, the more damage it can cause. it's chemical reaction, and sugars can do lot's of damage to elctronic circuits. you'll have to open it up and clean it, or send it to a lab. take a look at this post: http://www.fixya.com/problems-solutions/t102667,p97334/Samsung-12-Button-LCD-Prostar-DCS-Phone.aspx The only difference for you is that the damage might be more local, and you might be able to treat it locally without risking getting more of it wet. try to isolate it and work only on the parts that got juice on them. Good luck
