There is a red end button on the phone....Hold it in and your phone should shut off..... To turn it on use the same option.

Shutting off and on

That actually is a flaw in the Sansung phone itself, its something in the manufacturing. When getting large messages or multimedia messages the Samsung will power itself on and off. Had the same problem with Samsung.

Samsung Gravity Shuts Off Randomly

This only worked as long as I shut the keyboard gently. The problem really seems to be mechanical. When sliding shut, the battery is jostled just enough to lose contact and shut the phone down. Placing a folded piece of paper between the battery and the non contact side of the phone to increase pressure slightly.
Hope this works for you as well

Nokia 3555b shuts off for no reason

CAUSE:The Nokia's problem of shutting off is a design flaw. The tension in the spring at the positive contact is too low to keep the battery in contact with the negative pole.

SOLUTION:Just  wedge a small piece of paper between the actual phone and the positive side of the battery(not between the contact) .This will prevent the battery from shifting away from the negative pole which causes the phone to shut off...
Hope this helps.

Go into your phone menu, and look at your phone's information. If you have software version 3, go to your local verizon store and have them change it to version 4.
