I bought this canon rebel t2 film camera recently and used film with ASO 400. Portraits look ok. but the landscapes, especially the sky area look dark and grainy. I used ef 28-135mm usm lens. Any solutions...

That's odd that the pictures would be coming out under exposed unless the previous owner has gone into the camera functions and switched the ISO from auto to manual. Another reason is that the exposure compensation has been activated and set for - exposure

Under "normal" use the camera will read the DX code on the film canisters and adjust the ISO automatically. However the previous owner may have shut this off in preference to setting the ISO manually. Even though you have ISO 400 in the camera the ISO on in the camera setting may be ISO 1600.

Checking for the Auto ISO and exposure compensation is fairly easy as you can see the film canister through the film window or you know you have loaded 400 speed film. on the LCD panel at the back of the camera is an ISO icon and exposure compensation.

Make sure the ISO for the camera is the same as what you have loaded and if the exposure compensation is to the right of 0 then the resulting picture will be dark. Move this back to the Zero.

I wasn't able to find an exact manual (if you don't have one) for your camera but have found a camera with similar. Here is a ling for that manual.

Can i use any film for my Canon EOS Rebel SLR Mark 2 or will anyone work?

You can use any 35mm film in any 35mm camera. You must set the film speed (ASA or DIN number) on the camera to match what it says on the film. This is to get the correct exposure, as different films have different sensitivities.

Half the picture is black

Hi,
The black photo problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to cannon service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replcae the lense sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

95 Film Polaroid captiva SLR

You can find Polaroid 95 or 600 on Ebay. It is very expensive. A lot of 600 exposures will run $1500.00 or ther was 40 exposures for $200.00. Needless to say it isnt made anymore. The battery is actually in the film pack. No film, no working camera.

Lock positon; film icon and #of exposures still appears, ist that normal?

Perfectly normal. The beauty of LCD displays is that, as long as nothing is actually changing, no power (or very minimal) is being consumed. Think of it this way: dump a pile of sugar on a table. Draw a number. It took energy to make the number, but it doesn't take any power to keep it there. Don't forget to clean up the sugar, it'll attracts ants.

Like i said before i do not know how to advance the camera

Here is Canon's spec page for your camera. CanonUSA

The camera is a preloader. It rolls all of the film out of the canister and winds it back as you take pictures. Read the film transport section. You have installed a battery in the camera right?

Very dark pictures

hi melissa,
your problem is the focusing areas, im sorry that I do not know how to turn it off, the rectangle you see is the area is focusing on, and the darkness is what the camera doesnt focus on, try reading the manual, or turning it off yourself.
