Toshiba satellite a45-s130 no sound

Did you open Device Manager, uninstall the audio device, reboot the machine, Does the XP software show a unknown device or try to load the driver for audio device? Do you have ALL the Windows updates in, the Toshiba updates ? Services Packs? You can download any/all the Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from their download page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get the correct drivers. Use this link: -

Loaded xp pro onto my notebook, org came with vista basic home.

You need a bootable CD of XP SP2 for installing OS..then u need the driver for ur laptop ..u can download those driver from toshiba site...

Audio problem on toshiba dynabook 2550S

Have you tried reinstalling your drivers? Try connecting some external speakers to the headphone jack and see if it works? If it does the speakers on the laptop are gone, if not the sound card is indeed not working. Do you have a speaker icon in your system tray by the clock?
