There are two possibilities to get this type of issue.
1.There may be a problem in your Sim card so try another one.
2.Your mobile is locked to particular network provider.
If your problem persists after trying another sim card means definitely your phone is locked by some network. So try to unlock your phone. For unlocking you can approach your service provider or else try to buy an unlocking service from any one of the online unlocking service provider like TheUnlockArena.com Here you can unlock your phone at low cost.

Want to change my sim card in my phone , but when i insert the sim card the phone does not recognise it and says to insert sim card

Hello there,
If your phone is not accepting any other sim card, then it means the phone is sim card secured lock or protected, there are some phones that do not accept any other kind of sim card apart from that which they are made for.
For instance a phone made for vodafone purposes cannot accept etisalat sim cards, it will only accept vodafone sim card. Therefore that is what you are facing with the phone.
Take not, if you insert similar kind of sim you were iniially using, it will accept it.
That is why you cannot use another kind of sim on the phone.

My nokia n95 8gb phone is lock and dont accept other sims

the reason your phone is not accepting other sims is because your phone is probably locked to the telephone service provider that you got the phone with.

if it has been unlocked but still doesnt accept other sims then you have to change settings in your phone
go to
Tools > Settings > General > Security > Phone and Sim card > Locked if SIM card changed and select "No".

cheers.

Phone not accepting a new SIM card

I think you have activated this sim only lock. This should be found under security menu. Try unlocking i first. If none works, you may consider flashing the phone if you need the phone working.

I have a nokia cell phone and when i insert a vodacom sim card it says the sim is not accepted. so is it locked for the sim card or what can you help me?

Three reasons for this:

1) If you have just obtained the phone and have used your own sim card, your phone is more than likely locked to a particular network. That means that it will only work with a sim card that matches that same network. If you try to use a sim card for a different network, the phone will tell you the card is not accepted. You can obtain unlock codes for most cell phones so that any network will operate.

2) The phone, sim card or both are on a lost or stolen list and the phone has been blocked. If this is the case you can do nothing unless you are an expert. My advice would then be to take it to your local police.

3) Or the sim card is faulty or has poor contacts. You can try gently rubbing the gold coloured contacts with a cotton bud.
