Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

No IP Address

We are using software called Brainware Columbus to do Remote OS Deployment, Software Deployment & Remote Support. We have had LANDesk installed on all our computers, and since we uninstalled LANDesk and installed McAfee 8.7i Enterprise, we have had some difficulties with some computers where they show they are connected to our Wired Lan, but their IP settings have dissappeared, the settings are blank. When you click on the repair option for the network, it gives an error straight away, and we have also tried Uninstalled & Reinstalling the NIC, that also doesnt solve the problem. Please help

Please check under network connections if there is a "Network Bridge", if there is then simple delete it. If there is none, go to local area network>properties>uncheck TCP/IP then hit OK or close. Restart machine. After restart, go to local area network>properties>check TCP/IP then hit OK or close. Restart machine. This should fix the problem.

Receiving the following error while trying to connect to VPN using F5 network VPN adapter.Error 721 - the remote computer did not respond

use the router's public IP address for PPTP requests, instead of one of the other public IP
addresses our ISP assigned us, and simply forward PPTP (TCP 1723 & IP 47)
requests to the internal servers. Therefore, the only difference is that I
am using a pingable IP address which happens to belong to the router instead
of using one of the public IP addresses I have NATed. For whatever reason,
this solved our problem with connecting to the RAS server. We no longer have
to retry up to 6 times to successfully connect

Second , See if port 47 is blocked....

Let me know if this works

regards
Sandeep

I have just installed my Uniden UDW20553 Video Surveillance System. I was under the impression that I would have remote access to view my cameras from anywhere in the world on my laptop. Have looked high...

The only solution I have found is using Remote Desktop Connection and running the Uniden application. On my Iphone I found that using Pocket Cloud Remote Desktop (RDP Itunes download application) works best. You must also download a free application named "Pocket Cloud Companion" on the PC your Uniden software is running. Pocket Cloud Companion must be running for connection to made through 3G, Edge or Wifi networks. Also, you have to configure your remote connections by using your PC's IP address rather then the name of your pc, particularly if making connection on 3G network.

Boot Loop

you may have to reload the OS of the router.
i dont suppose you can kick it into romon mode can you? (usually done by hitting the pause break button on boot.)

if you can you should be able to use Xmodem to reload the OS (as long as you have a copy of it located on your computer)

Vpn error. 800

Resolutions: 1) if you have firewall, open TCP Port 1723, IP Protocol 47 (GRE). 2) make sure you can reach the VPN server by using ping. Sometimes, poor connection can cause this issue too. 3) You may need to updated firmware on a router or firewall if other OS (win9x/nt/me/w2k) works except XP. 4) The VPN server may not be able to get IP from DHCP for the VPN client. So, you may want to re-configure VPN host networking settings. For XP pro VPN host, go to the Properties of the VPN>Network, check Specify TCP/IP address and Allow calling computer to specify its own IP address, and uncheck Assign TCP/IP addresses automatically using DHCP. 5) Make sure no other secure software blocks your access, for example, if you use Norton secure software, you may need to add the remote client's IP so that the client can access. 6) If your VPN running on a Windows RRAS with NAT enabled, you may want to check the NAT settings. 7) If you can establish the VPN from the desktop at home but not from the laptop. Make sure no security software like Microsoft OneCare software that blocks the GRE.
