Question about GE GSS22JEPCC / GSS22JEPWW / GSS22JEPBB Side by Side Refrigerator
Usually a thermostat is to blame when cold control suffers. However, check for excessive frost buildup first, this could point to other problems with either the fan or auto-defrost mechanism.
That is when I would call a technician.

How old is "OLDER" ? If there is no frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer you could have one of two problems. On older units the compressor wears out with years of service and no longer pumps efficiently. Or it could possibly be low on refrigerant charge. ether one of these two problems is a sign that is time to update to new unit.
If you have frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer section you then would have a problem in the defrost circuit attributed to the timer, defrost heaters or defrost thermostat.

HI, simply replacing the thermostat and air diffuser assembly will fix this cold control issue you are experiencing.

unplug 24 hrs with doors open plug in again if it works better you have a defrost problem. it may be the defrost termination switch.. burned out element or bad timer

Check the freezer temp (available in most grocery and home improvement stores). The temp should be between 0-10 degrees F (not just barely below freezing).
