Question about Tascam US-144 Sound Card

1 Answer

The amount of times you have probably had question similar to this: I have set up everything that i can see correctly, i am using a laptop connected with a tascam interface and i am trying to set up my MIDI keyboard in Cubase. I have set the keyboard and the VST connections up according to instructions, however a connot seem to hear any sound other than a series of buzzing noises when i connect earphones to my us-144 tascam interface, however the volume level is moving in Cubase LE4 when i press a key on the keyboard. I have been able to use my interface with other programmes using MIDI. Obviously i am missing something here but just cant tell what. Platform: PC OS: Windows XP SP3

Hp pavillion laptop allows me to log on. Then as it loads up screen flashes and a blue circular disc appears by the curso. It says limited wifi. No problem with the WiFI connecting my phone to it.

Does your phone use the Wifi antenna from your laptop? or the receiver? or the software? When your laptop indicates it has a problem with the Wifi connection, it has. What is causing this should be looked after in the laptop, like did you setup the connection correct? Is the setting still correct? or did something change the settings or even reset the settings?
Just check everything about the wireless connection in the laptop to see if you can get it working again. If it was never working before, just setup the connection.

Why would the ethernet internet connection not work - but the wireless connection would?

You might be out of IPs in the router. There's a setting where you can allow a set amount of IPs (like 5 or 10 devices). If the IP is 169.x.x.x it means the TV didn't get an IP and the laptop working means that it already has an IP designated in the router.

Anyway, go into the router settings and look for the "IP scope" and increase it by 5-10 and save it, then try again.
Usually home routers have a default setting and all devices get a similar IP (wireless and wired alike), so I would venture to guess that you are out of them, what with cell phones, laptops, tablets etc.

Cannot find motherboard hp 375052 001 can i get another for my laptop

Have you tried sites like eBay and possibly get a used, working one?

The problem you would run into is with the laptop case. Another motherboard would probably not line up correctly with the inside of the case or things such as the USB ports . So if you were to look for another motherboard, you'd want to keep that in mind. unless you were making your own case to fit the motherboard, it will probably be more problematic for you.

But if you want to rig it and experiment, just make sure it is compatable with ram, CPU, connections to video and display... Everything. I can say I have only successfully made another motherboard work in one other laptop in 4 years. The models were very similar.

Cannot connect to HDTV when charging

Check your power saving settings. You have different setting for when it is using a battery versus when it is not. It's probably turning off the video output after a certain amount of time to save energy.

I have a new Acer 23" LCD monitor - the desktop icons, my email, my word documents - everything is HUGE - I cannot read anything without going back and forth, up and down and it is impossible to type...

You need to change the monitor resolution setting in your operating system. If you are using Windows then go to Control Panel and look for Display Settings (or something similar depending on the version of Windows). Adjust the Resolution setting (probably using a slidebar on screen) to match the optimum setting of your monitor. If you don't have the monitor instructions try the highest setting first and move down one step at a time until you get a correct resolution on the display.

Can i download from the internet onto my laptop and then to my phone without using a usb cable?

Yes! you can download your files to your laptop as normal, then connect your laptop and phone via a bluetooth connection... The bluetooth menu is next to the airport menu on the desktop.
Simply set your laptop and phone to communicate (similar to setting up a bluetooth headset). Then look on the desktop for a drive or folder icon with your phone name. then install the files in the correct folder.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router and want to connect it to, the only computer in the houuse, my laptop. How do I make a wireless connection for the laptop? It is picking up the router's signal,...

You need to make sure your router is set up correctly, as well as your internet connection, whether it's cable modem or DSL or whatever.

First of all, what kind of internet access do you have?

Wireless connection problem

When you say "IP and DNS settings are correct", can you define what "correct" is? IP and DNS settings change depending on the wireless network they're using, so one setting will not work for all networks. The most "correct" setting you can have is probably DHCP - which is called "Obtain IP address automatically" and the same for DNS. If your laptop has any statically assigned IP information, make a note of what they are, and then change it to DHCP and see if you have better luck. If you have statically assigned IP information, it will allow you to connect to the wireless network, but not provide internet access because your IP scheme and DNS settings are wrong. It sounds like the scenario you're describing.
